Fake TripAdvisor Reviewer Sentenced to Jail in Italy

In a landmark decision, a TripAdvisor reviewer from Italy was sentenced to nine months in prison for fraud after selling fake reviews.

According to The Guardian, the court convicted the owner of Italian tourism promoter Promo Salento of selling fake reviews to hundreds of hospitality companies. The judge found that writing fake reviews under a false identity was a crime under Italian law.

The court also ordered the unnamed fraudulent reviewer to pay €8,000 in fines.

Residents of South Carolina who thought they were going to be safe from Hurricane Florence are now rushing to prepare after a slight change in the forecast.

Current forecast models have the hurricane shifting south. Previously, North Carolina was forecast to be more at risk.

The mayor of a town outside Charleston is telling people to “take control of your destiny” and leave town now before Hurricane Florence arrives.


You Can Get a Tattoo at DC’s Latest Hotel for Millennials

DC will get its first Moxy hotel, at 10th and K streets, NW on October 30th. The six-year-old brand from Marriott already has outposts in London, New York, Chicago, and dozens of other locales.

Its Washington debut follows several other recent hotel openings aimed at hip, young professionals. Eaton DC—the resistance-themed property down the street at 12th and K—opened this summer. The Line arrived last year, as did Pod DC. Still more are on the way in the months ahead: Navy Yard is getting a Thompson hotel—a trendy boutique with outposts in places like Seattle and Nashville. And Richard Branson is bringing a Virgin hotel to Union Market.


Spirit Airlines adds new international route to Colombia

Spirit Airlines is adding a new international destination, saying it will begin flying to the Colombian city of Cali this winter.

The carrier will fly to the city from its hub in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, launching daily round-trip service Dec. 20.

Cali will become the 68th city in Spirit’s route network and its fifth in Colombia. Spirit’s other Colombian destinations are Cartagena, Bogotá, Medellín and Armenia.
