The Rauh-Welt 997 Turbo Looks Like A Fat Cayman And I’m Here For It

RAUH-Welt Begriff, colloquially known as 'RWB' has revealed that it is working on body kits for the 997 generation of the Porsche 911 Turbo. On the tuner’s Instagram page, a post shows a black 997 Turbo with wide fenders, lower side skirts, and new bumpers. In addition to the cosmetic changes, the car that
RWB is working on has custom gold wheels shod in wider tires. Compared to a stock 997 Turbo, the RWB 997 Turbo is significantly wider with massive 993 GT2-style bolt-on overfenders, plus a massive set of wheels. A more aggressive rear spoiler appears to have been added, too, which should help it stand out. I'll go out on a limb here and guess that it won't contribute to a significant aerodynamic advantage.

Looking closer, you don’t see the car’s stock quad exhaust tips, meaning that the changes are more than cosmetic. In stock form, the 997 Turbo makes 473 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque from its 3.6-liter turbocharged flat-six putting the power down through all four wheels. There’s also an overboost function that momentarily boosts torque to 502 lb-ft. There's no telling what RWB might have done [if anything] to produce more power, but a simple EVOMS kit can pump those numbers up to 708 hp and 965 lb-ft with bolt-on parts.

We can’t wait to see the RWB’s finished 997 Turbo. As with all vehicles it customizes, each one is unique because the Japan-based tuner only works on one car per customer. It looks like Akira Nakai has already built a 997 Cabriolet for himself, as well as a handful of other widebody-ified naturally-aspirated 997s, but this looks to be his first 997 Turbo build for a customer. The 997 is the first modern Porsche 911 that RWB has started to offer body kits and we’re suspecting it won’t be the last. I'd love to see a kit for the 986 Boxster, honestly. And since Nakai got his start tuning up RWD Toyota Corollas, maybe a 944 kit would be pretty rad.
