President Joe Biden on Tuesday announced a new goal to have 70% of adults in the US at least partially vaccinated by the Fourth of July.

"In the next phase of the vaccination campaign, the Administration will make getting vaccinated more accessible than ever before, continuing to increase people's confidence in the vaccines and ensuring that everyone is reached in the response," The White House said in a news release announcing the goal.

Biden on Tuesday will direct funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to create and support pop-up vaccination clinics, "smaller community vaccination sites," mobile clinics, and increase the allotment of the vaccine to health clinics in rural communities.

Funding will also be provided for community outreach and engagement, the White House announced.

The White House also Tuesday announced that Biden intends to get adolescents vaccinated "as soon as possible" so long as the US Food and Drug Administration issues an emergency use authorization for the vaccines for people under the age of 16 and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends their use.

The White House also announced a cross-agency effort, including the office of the Surgeon General, the CDC, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to educate teenagers and their parents about vaccination.
