Manchester United legend Eric Cantona announces himself as new manager

Manchester United continue manager search

Manchester United continue to search for a new manager after parting ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last Sunday morning.

As it stands, Michael Carrick will take the side to take on Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, unless an interim boss is appointed before then.

Manchester United can confirm that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has left his role as Manager.

Thank you for everything, Ole ❤️#MUFC

While it feels as though it has come months too late, it is ultimately the only decision that was left open to the Manchester United hierarchy after a terrible run of form that saw them slip from 3rd to 8th place in the Premier League, 12 points off league leaders Chelsea.

However, in the days that have followed, the sheer ineptitude of those above Ole in the hierarchy has been on full display as the Red Devils have been scrambling to find a new manager, in a manner akin to the way that Tottenham did in the summer.

And now, a new candidate has emerged.

Cantona announces himself as the new Manchester United manager

In an unlikely turn of events, Eric Cantona, a Manchester United legend, has taken to Instagram to announce himself as the club’s new manager.

As the video below shows, the Frenchman claims that he has been appointed and that he will announce his backroom staff soon.

Eric Cantona, the next #mufc manager? 🤣

Of course, it is unlikely that Cantona is in fact taking over at Old Trafford, especially while The Telegraph report on the four candidates that are in contention for the interim role. However, it cannot be a good look for the club that even ex-players are now taking the mick out of the speed of their appointments, and lack of planning.

Would you like to see Cantona in the dugout at Old Trafford?
