A FEW MORE PRINTS

Can you see the dancers in the top one?  I can.  Will have to use this for something interesting... The blue background was a print I made and didn't know what to do with so... stamped on it with a sunflower stamp and need to make it prettier with some additional acrylic paint to call it done.   The right one?  Who knows?!?!   [Author: RH Carpenter]

Is architecture at last breaking through its own glass ceiling? | Rowan Moore

A welcome gold award, and now the RIBA has begun to recognise that what matters is the teamSome kind of congratulations are due to the Royal Institute of British Architects for choosing as this year’s winners of the royal gold medal for architecture the Irish practice Grafton. “A Swinging Centennial: Jackie Robinson at 100” video posted in three days

On September 29, a world premiere jazz work was performed in Pasadena, CA. We were there to film it, and we posted the edits only three days later! Our only regret: because the sound board was hard-wired into the venue, we were not able to pull a feed (or better yet — a multi-track feed with ProTools) from the soundbooth. So everything you hear is from our mics placed throughout the room. However we’re proud that we were able to pull this off in such a short time, and that the client is happy wi...

Meet Bixie, a wooden mini-bicycle that gets kids excited about sustainable healthy living

If you’re worried that the next generation isn’t interested in toys, books, or playing outdoors, ask yourself… are you really setting the right example? Andrej Kregar makes a pretty insightful comment about how kids emulate their elders, so if you’re attached to your phone all day, chances are your child will follow the trend you set. Keeping that in mind, Kregar decided to not just adopt a healthier lifestyle, but to also give his offspring the tools to live healthy too. It first meant using ...

Fan-made "rideable" Haunted Mansion poster

Cartoonist Vince "Untold Tales of Bigfoot" Dorse (previously) continues to make astoundingly cool Haunted Mansion fan media: his latest is a "ride through" illustration of the Mansion and its many set-pieces, which imagines a coherent geometry for the ride. It's an underappreciated fact that the Haunted Mansion is basically a giant black show-building filled with effectively floating rooms that don't join up in any internally consistent fashion (contrast with rides built around the same tim...

Mitch "the World's Best Artist" McConnell (Not "Moscow" Mitch O'Connell, the sell-out senator) got enough money in his crowdfunding campaign to erect this terrific They Live homage featuring reality TV show host Donald Trump. The VOTE billboard is ready for selfies at 7th Ave and 48th St! Mitch said, "Mostly due to Boing Boing, it’s UP!" Yay! Mitch received enough funds to keep the billboard up for a month, but if he gets more money it'll stay up longer. Contribute here.
