Lisbon-Based Design Studio MOR Debuts New Store and Lighting Collection

Last month, new design studio MOR opened its first storefront in Lisbon's LX Factory, a former industrial site in the Alcântara district that has become a creative hub in recent years. Rustom Siodia: A Forgotten Master

Art in India has largely been a niche world, with few artists being known beyond the rather small circle of connoisseurs. Harman is redesigning its in-car audio systems specifically for electric vehicles

I bet you didn’t know this but car stereos can often be power guzzlers. A decent car audio setup can pull anywhere from 200 to 500 watts RMS of power depending on the number of speaker units, the size of the car, and the bass module. That isn’t really much of a concern when you’ve got a fuel-powered automobile but in an electric vehicle, any sort of efficiency can go a long way in making a car perform better. Harman (which got acquired by Samsung in late 2016) is looking to redesign its audio ...

“Jeopardy” Now Has Its All-Time Champ. But Why Did It Need One?

Elsewhere, we carp, battle and grind one another down for bragging rights and total triumph. Sports culture and champion-making has seeped into nearly every aspect of life. It’s all just a little (or a lot) more elbowy and contentious — primary campaigns, award show nominations, lists of the decade’s best albums. – Washington Post

Way to milk a disaster… Tesla is now selling Cybertruck-inspired T-shirts with broken-glass prints

Well, you’ve got to admit Elon’s definitely got a pair. We’re talking about the man who founded PayPal, Tesla, SpaceX, The Boring Company, Hyperloop, and Neuralink. A man who tweeted about taking one of his companies private after shares crossed $420 (to impress his girlfriend), got grilled by the SEC for it, locked horns with the SEC, and finally paid a fine for misleading the investors and claimed it was ‘worth it’. He then went on to call a heroic diver (who saved the lives of a team of young...

Happiness Index: Why It’s So Difficult To Tell

Over the past two or three decades, the historical study of emotions has developed a rich set of tools with which to chart the ways that emotions have changed over time. Emotions such as anger, disgust, love and happiness might seem commonplace, but they are not so readily understood in the past. These concepts and the experiences associated with them are not historically stable. – Aeon

On NEON’s Ambitions for an Artificial Human

The company's prototype personality mirrors goals and fears in tech-fiction television Few exhibitors at CES 2020 reached beyond our conceivable world like NEON, a Samsung spin-off helmed by StarLabs President and CEO Pranav Mistry, and the debut of their humanoid AI bots. Intentionally minimal in pre-show communications, they limited their announcement to these two words: artificial humans. NEON employees appeared at CES preview events, but …

"... that place is Participant, where his unassuming, heartfelt exhibition 'A Green New Deal'... includes a working greenhouse filled with a hodgepodge of succulents, bonsai, and carnivorous plants.... Ventur is best known for his indelible portraits of the late Warhol superstar Mario Montez, but an earthier muse is the scene-stealer here: the pathbreaking lesbian filmmaker Barbara Hammer, who looks elated, shortly before her death, early last year, to be climbing a tree."So writes Andrea K.
