A Review of the Nebia by Moen Atomizing Showerhead

I was excited to try the new Nebia by Moen showerhead, a water-saving design that "provides 2x more spray coverage while also saving 45% of the water used by standard showers." After a week of using it, I cannot wait to de-install it and go back to my regular showerhead.Perhaps winter was the wrong time for them to launch this product. The central flaw of the Nebia's patented "H2Micro atomization spray technology" is that the mist-like water that comes out of the head hot, turns cool after just ...

Design Academy Eindhoven's Graduation Show 2019 Explores Man and Society's Future

This wristwatch inspired by a lazy poolside afternoon is 100% weekend mood!

Known maker of quirky timepieces, Mr. Jones Watches is back with yet another watch, created in collaboration with illustrator Kristof Devos. It ditches the very notion that watches should have hands that point to the time by replacing it with a millennial aimlessly floating in a swimming pool, doing the rounds of the watch’s face.Aptly titled ‘A Perfectly Useless Afternoon’, the watch comes set against the backdrop of a swimming pool, with two transparent discs that rotate to tell the time. One ...

This wearable can stimulate nerves to effectively cancel out hand-tremors… and it’s a watch too.

Less of a fitness wearable and more of a wellness wearable, the Cala Trio is a wrist-worn individually calibrated device that works to reduce essential tremors, a condition that affects dexterity and movement when you’re using your hands.Essential tremors affect as many as 7 million people in America alone. As Robots Take Over There’s An Opening For People

“The 20th century economy rewarded being the same, suppressing whatever made you weird and interesting. But this economy doesn’t reward that. This economy has shifted far more in the direction of rewarding uniqueness. So broadly speaking, more passion is more possible.” – Chicago Reader

So Much For The Grammys’ New Era

Ousted chief Deborah Dugan’s explosive claims threatened to overshadow the star-studded show itself, which is scheduled to air on CBS. Her brutal portrait of the Recording Academy as a chummy cabal of men with expense accounts, conspiring to line their pockets on the backs of musicians, harass women at will and cover it all up, seemed to confirm people’s most cynical fears about the music industry and the Grammys in particular, which have long been criticized as out of touch and lacking t...

When Classical Music Was Central

“However difficult to imagine, across those eventful decades, countless people embraced the idea that what happened in the concert hall and the opera house was inseparable from the destiny of the United States and the well-being of the American people.” – Washington Post

There’s A Wave Of Forgeries Coming To The Print Market, Warn Art Experts

“Since the dawn of the internet, the problem of phony art being sold has only grown, experts say, and the primary coin of the forgery realm has long been the fake print, which is relatively easy to create, often difficult to detect and typically priced low enough to attract undiscriminating novice buyers. But now the problem seems to be escalating, according to law enforcement officials in the United States and Europe.” – The New York Times

A blacksmith makes their own tools

This week, I gave a talk (with a little bit of workshopping) as part of the third module of IPA Excellence Diploma. This was a course I did back in 2007/8, and without doing it, I probably wouldn’t be doing what I do now, and definitely wouldn’t be thinking about things in the way I do. It’s never a substitute, but people have asked if I’d be sharing the slides, so here you go. Just imagine that when you get to the ones that make no sense, I am in front of you saying something really profound...

The Difficulty Of Being A Cultural Ambassador For The US In The Time Of Trump

Under the Trump Administration, the challenge for cultural workers who agree to participate in official events is akin to swimming upstream in boiling waters. Civil servants, thinking of the long game—the point in the future when Trump will be gone and our democracy will be restored—task cultural workers with creating a counter-narrative of America while their employer puts forth a pernicious, deleterious version of the country. But how will this anticipated moment of restored democracy...
