Yeah, We Were Lied To: Emily Dickinson Was Actually A Trailblazing Rebel Artist

Molly Shannon, an actor who spent years on Saturday Night Live, didn’t think much of or about Dickinson until she got the chance to play her in a new movie. Then things changed. Shannon: “We have this story that she wanted her poems burned upon death when in reality she’s an L.G.B.T.Q. hero. She’s a model for new wave feminism, which talks about equality for all. [Screams] It makes me want to start a riot.” – The New York Times

The Vettis faucet transforms concrete into a premium material

Concrete’s got more of a rustic, DIY reputation than that of a luxury material. You’d normally associate luxury with chrome, rose-gold, or other premium materials and finishes, but faucet and sanitaryware company Brizo is changing that. Take for instance its Vettis single-hand faucet. Fabricated in brass and plated with polished chrome, the original Vettis is an absolute stunner, with a solid looking, robust cuboidal form factor. This super-insulated concrete "cabin" hides a surprisingly cozy interior

Brutalist-inspired architecture is usually not the first thing that comes to mind when imagining cozy countryside cabins, but two daring designers have created a 900-square-foot house — made primarily of concrete blocks — in the Catskills. The homeowners, architect Jason Shannon and designer Paola Yañez of J_spy Architecture, created the contemporary home with a cluster of three cubic volumes and a white metal box for the roof. The result is a high-end, modern and eco-friendly retreat that sit...
