Motorcycle People are the Best People

Recently I’ve become acutely aware of how hard it is to make friends as an adult. Thankfully, enjoying the same hobby or pastime makes the process easier. Building Your McLaren Speedtail: Like Savile Row With Horsepower!

The McLaren Speedtail was recently revealed to future owners at a private event. The Speedtail is the first of 18 new cars under the company’s Track25 business plan. It’s the fastest car in the automaker’s history. Now it’s arguably the most personalized.  I think this all started with the McLaren F1. I remember buyers could get their name woven into the carbon fiber, if they so desired. You know, something along the lines of “This McLaren F1 made especially for Sir Manfredjinsinjin” or someth...

Volkswagen’s Solution to EV Charging Woes: A Charging Station That Requires Recharging

Concerned that customers won’t buy vehicles from its upcoming electric product tsunami for fear of missing their turn at the plug, Volkswagen is offering a fairly novel solution: mobile charging stations that also require recharging, presumably from a much larger charging station. A power station, for example. The takeaway from Volkswagen’s lesson in energy packaging […] The post Volkswagen’s Solution to EV Charging Woes: A Charging Station That Requires Recharging appeared first on The Truth Ab...

Blast from the past: A Suzuki Vallelunga roars again

There’s something magical about big racing two-strokes. And somewhere near the top of that smokin’ hot tree is the Suzuki-SAIAD GT750 S Vallelunga. The story of the Italian-built Suzuki is a curious tale, and it’s rare to see one of these attractive racers pop up on the internet radar. But the Piedmontese workshop Soiatti Moto Classiche has just found and restored one, and pushed the big zook back into the limelight. Soiatti Moto Classiche opened its doors in 1978, when SWM factory motocr...

Jim Perkins, Who Saved the Corvette From a Moribund GM, Dies

Much has been written about Jim Perkins, the Texas boy with a keen love of Chevrolet whose relentless ambition finally placed him in GM’s sphere of influence. It’s thanks to Perkins that Chevrolet’s Corvette is still General Motors’ halo car, and not some long-departed nameplate culled during the height of badge engineering. Perkins’ quintessentially American […] The post Jim Perkins, Who Saved the Corvette From a Moribund GM, Dies appeared first on The Truth About Cars.
