Poised for Pickups: Mexican Restart Can’t Come Soon Enough for GM

Production at General Motors’ Mexican assembly plants could start up next week, following a go-ahead from the country’s leadership to resume factory activity. The faster GM’s able to come back online south of the Rio Grande, the better. In an earnings briefing last week, GM, like its rival Fiat Chrysler, pointed to a declining inventory […] The post Poised for Pickups: Mexican Restart Can’t Come Soon Enough for GM appeared first on The Truth About Cars.

In Review: 2020 Toyota Tundra

It's undergone so few mechanical changes over the years that it's pretty much bulletproof, but that lack of new technology also means the Tundra is a pretty thirsty beast. Find out more in my review over at the National Post (Driving.ca). [Author: Jil McIntosh]

Boondocking again at the Penrose BLM Area - Pre-Group-Arrival

I drove out of the Metro Denver Cesspool on Tuesday and less than two hours later I was setting up camp in my favorite spot within the Penrose BLM Area.  Nice and secluded, not along the main "road" traversing the area and good cellular signal. I set up camp and relaxed in the quiet and solitude.  Enjoyed it so much, I didn't do much of anything else the next day, Wednesday, except work on a wiring issue involving the URRV's rear lights.  The weather was very warm and lows were in the low 40s t...

Toyota to Chrysler: Two Can Play This Game

It seems that Chrysler’s Pacifica won’t be the only available hybrid minivan for long. While the Ontario-built model, which challenges Toyota’s Sienna by adding all-wheel drive for 2021, remains the only hybrid people mover in the segment, it’s possible the Sienna might soon become the only AWD HEV minivan. That isn’t known for sure at […] The post Toyota to Chrysler: Two Can Play This Game appeared first on The Truth About Cars.

Toyota Yaris Cross Rumored to Underpin Diminutive Lexus by 2023

Lexus hasn’t been quiet about its need for crossovers. The brand went into the fad (it can’t last forever) underprepared with a fleet largely comprised of sedans; now it’s rumored to be developing a sub-$30,000 product following the launch of its subcompact UX model. While a little surprising that Toyota’s luxury arm would pursue such […] The post Toyota Yaris Cross Rumored to Underpin Diminutive Lexus by 2023 appeared first on The Truth About Cars.

Watch: "Godspeed You! Black Emperor," a short 1976 documentary about a Japanese motorcycle youth subculture

In the 1970s, a youth subculture of anti-establishment motorcycle clubs emerged in Japan called bōsōzoku that's still raging to this day, albeit in smaller numbers. Mitsuo Yanagimachi's short 16mm documentary "God Speed You! Black Emperor" is a fascinating and fun look into this tribe through the story of a member of the Black Emperors club. And yes, the film title was the source of the Canadian experimental rock band's name. (via r/ObscureMedia)

Rare Rides: An Incredibly Rare 1965 Lancia Flaminia Super Sport Zagato

By my count, Rare Rides has featured exactly four Lancias in the past. Ranging in scope from two-doors to four-doors, they all contained Italian passion and were designed with a ruler. Today’s coupe bucks the trend: It’s an elegant and curvaceous Flaminia, and more specifically, a very desirable Super Sport Zagato. Bimota Shares Some Hazy Teasers of the KB4 Retro Sportbike

Looking Good From These Photos Bimota’s KB4 was rumored and some renderings were shown recently. However, now Bimota has teased a couple of blurry images of the possible future retro-sportbike. You can’t see much from the images beyond the overall shape of the bike, but it definitely looks like the motorcycle will stick pretty close to the renderings that were showed off not too long ago. It’s really tough to see much of anything, but I can say it looks like the bike will get some standard fron...

7 top mobility VCs discuss COVID-19 strategies and trends

As COVID-19 swept across the globe, no sector lay untouched, but perhaps no industry was more disrupted than transportation. Airlines slashed routes, public transit use plummeted, ridership on Uber, Lyft and other ride-hailing platforms dropped and shared scooter companies pulled products from city streets. Meanwhile, e-bike sales bloomed and on-demand delivery, including services using autonomous robots, exploded. Transportation companies have been forced to adapt — quickly — to this new rea...

MV Agusta Adds New Colors for the Superveloce 800

More Colors, More to Love The MV Agusta Superveloce 800 is a wonderful and attractive sportbike, but one of the few complaints was that it was only offered in one color. Now the company has decided to put it out in two different colors to give the bike some variety. The first is Ago Red / Ago Silver. These colors make sense for the brand and the bike. They’re MV Agusta’s colors and they fit the bike well with the red on the majority of the bike and the sliver adorning the bodywork to either sid...
