Forget the casino, bankrupt Hertz can now sell up to $1 billion in stock

Hertz, the rental car company that is going through Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, can now sell up to $1 billion in stock as it seeks to tap into one of the hottest tickets in town: traders with an appetite for short-term speculative bets. The decision Friday by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware gives Hertz permission to sell as up to 246.8 million unissued shares to Jefferies LLC. Hertz, which made the emergency request Thursday, has not entered into an agreement wit...

Jaguar Land Rover Boss Talks Defender, Getting It Right

This interview should’ve been posted months ago. I sat with Jaguar Land Rover North America Product Planning Director Rob Filipovic at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show (remember those?) to talk about the reborn Defender. Then, I screwed up. I didn’t write the piece right away due to other work and travel. Still, the first drive […] The post Jaguar Land Rover Boss Talks Defender, Getting It Right appeared first on The Truth About Cars.

Mustang Owners Sue Ford Over Transmission Troubles

Ford has weathered heavy criticism for moving bunk transmissions for some time. Normally, that conversation revolves around the PowerShift DSP6 (aka Getrag 6DCT250) installed in passenger cars with names beginning with the letter “F.” The unit turned out to have a laundry list of problems and ultimately created a ruckus between management, engineers, and Ford’s legal […] The post Mustang Owners Sue Ford Over Transmission Troubles appeared first on The Truth About Cars.

Fast Family: A WR400 from a father-and-son team

At its heart , motorcycling is a solitary pursuit. But it also brings people together, sharing their enthusiasm and skills when the hand is not on the throttle. We love stories about kindred souls working together, especially when they involve families—because too often, family anecdotes dwell on parents being unhappy with their offspring heading out on two wheels. That doesn’t apply to the German father-and-son team Michael and Allen Posenauer, who are based in Offenbach and run AMP Motorc...

Rare Rides: A 1990 Oldsmobile Troféo – Last of Personal Luxury

Today’s Rare Ride is one of those last-of moments for a historical nameplate. For nearly 40 years, Toronado was the luxurious coupe flagship of the Oldsmobile brand. T-Dubing/Clearing Red Mountain Gulch Road and some more views of Lake San Cristobal

June 7, SundayToday I would ride up the nearby Red Mountain Gulch "Road", a county road, to see what I could see.  It would end up being a bit more work than I'd figured on!But first, a shot of a big grove of Aspen Trees on Hinsdale County Road 56 from Saturday evening as I rode about fruitlessly for a good sunset spot:  County Road 56, steep one.  Closed for road work so didn't go past this point. Red Mountain Gulch Road is a 4WD recommended road as it starts steep, rocky and rutted right...

2019 Cadillac XT4 Sport Review – The Caddy That Flops

Cadillac is a brand beleaguered. Part of the reason is its misadventures in Crossover Land. In a world where Acura, Lexus, and others are serving up premium crossovers at premium prices, and building competitive vehicles while so doing, Cadillac has served up something that’s more like a glorified Chevy. That, obviously, is a problem. I […] The post 2019 Cadillac XT4 Sport Review – The Caddy That Flops appeared first on The Truth About Cars.
