An Introduction to Pick and Pulls

Today, I rode along with Dale B. as he went to what he describes as one of his favorite places to go.  An auto salvage yard or "Pick and Pull".Basically, you pay a small entry fee, then using your own tools, pick and pull off any parts from any of the salvage cars in the lot.  There's a lot of cars at this particular lot in Denver, I was in salvage heaven.   The above pic is just a small portion of the whole inventory of salvage/wrecked vehicles just waiting to be scavenged by cheap bastards...

992-Generation Porsche 911 Sport Classic Spied In Testing

Photo credit: SpiedBilde Way back in the stone age of the 997-generation Porsche 911, the company offered a model which was basically a variant on the GTS formula, a limited edition Sport Classic with the widebody arches of a Carrera 4S, a special ducktail spoiler, a model-specific double-bubble roof, and 19-inch Fuch-style wheels. This extremely cool and special ride was limited to just 250 units, and was never sold in the United States market. As with any limited-edition Porsche, the prices o...

Porsche makes its case for an all-electric Taycan wagon

Porsche has always gone its own way when it comes to creating new vehicles. It is, after all, the company that continues to stick to the wacky idea that putting the weight of an engine in the rear of a sports car is a great idea. (It is!) So, bucking the crossover trend to create an all-electric, soft-roading wagon with just 20 more millimeters of clearance than their popular electric Taycan sedan isn’t out of character for the brand. Instead, it’s another example of how Porsche approaches elect...

Tokyo Drifter: A Yamaha XV750 street tracker from Japan

Forty years ago, Yamaha made a brief foray into the flat track scene in the States with its XV750 race bike. Like most go-fast, turn-left machines, it was a bit of a looker—and provided inspiration for this phenomenal street tracker from Takashi Nihira. Nihira-san runs Wedge Motorcycle, one of the top Japanese custom shops. He’s won multiple awards at the Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show and was tapped by BMW to participate in their G310R custom project. This XV750 is a commission, from a cust...

Harley-Davidson’s 2021 Electra Glide Revival Is a Blast From the Past

We Gonna Bike Down to Electa Avenue To celebrate the upcoming ‘Icons Collection’, Harley-Davidson has decided to run a very limited-edition production of this very special Electra Glide, called the ‘Revival’. H-D bikes usually take one of two lanes: black, bad-ass, and loud, or classic and timeless. You can’t go wrong either way, but for those who lean towards the classic look for their favored Harley motorcycles, the Electra Glide Revival is sure to tickle that sensitive nostalgia nerve. The...

Auto Lobby Now Recommends Driver Monitoring Cameras

On Tuesday, the largest automotive lobbying group released a handful of safety guidelines related to driver monitoring for vehicles equipped with driver-assistance features. It’s pageantry designed to convince you and the rest of the world to embrace technologies that have already led to unsettling privacy violations. The Alliance for Automotive Innovation making recommendations for the industry is farcical because […] The post Auto Lobby Now Recommends Driver Monitoring Cameras appeared first o...

Ford to open new lab to develop next-gen lithium-ion and solid-state batteries

Ford Motor Company will open a $185 million R&D battery lab to develop and manufacture battery cells and batteries, a first step toward the automaker possibly making battery cells in-house. The facility comes as yet another signal to consumers and other automakers that the auto giant is no longer hedging its bets on the transition to battery electric vehicles. Company executives declined to provide a timeline on when Ford might scale its battery manufacturing, but it is clear that the company in...

The Orange Track-Hawks Land On the Fourth When thinking of where KTM fits on the off-road spectrum, I like to imagine them as the Ducati’s of the dirt. Dirt-Ducatis; expensive and built to perform. The SX model range is a popular choice for both professionals and weekenders seeking high-quality dirtbikes ready to dominate off the lot. On May 4th (May the fourth be with you), KTM plans of unveiling the entire 2022 range of SX off-road bikes. With Red Bull KTM absolutely dominating most offroad ...

Let’s All Come Together To Help Porsche Legend Vic Elford In His Efforts To Fight Cancer

Where would the Porsche world be without quick Vic Elford? Most famously Elford took a 911 to victory at Rally Monte Carlo in 1968, then got on a plane, flew to Florida, and hopped in a long tail 907 to win Porsche's first ever 24 hour endurance race at Daytona. Among hundreds of other wins for the crested German brand of fighting racers, Elford is still known today for his legendary speed and car control. I was afforded a couple of opportunities to meet the chap, and he's just the kindest face...

Enginehawk’s Brand Lineup Hits the Market

Enginehawk built an exciting hype for its brand release today. The fresh brand was developed by Ruroc, a UK-based helmet manufacturer responsible for launching the notorious ‘Atlas’ helmet.  The Ruroc team grew to success by developing a helmet that couldn’t be mistaken for anything else on the market. One month ago, Ruroc released the third version of the unmistakable helmet – dubbed the Atlas 3.0.  As Jim Pruner stated in last week’s news release , the Enginehawk marketing team...
