Honda Continues to Expand & Improve its Lineup For 2020, Honda motorcycles has one of its best lineups in a while. The company came out with a new Fireblade at EICMA 2019 and the company has plenty of fun and sometimes goofy smaller-displacement models. It’s true what they say, you do meet nice people on a Honda. Is the motorcycle company always pushing the envelope in the way I would want them to? No, but I’m not dissatisfied with what they do offer. The Africa Twin, CBR-1000RR-R, and the Gold...

2018 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 4MATIC+ SUV and Coupe – In Detail

These days it is rare to find a high-performance V8 engine even in sports cars and luxury saloons. And yet for some reason Mercedes-Benz offers them in a mid-size SUV. That makes the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 a bit of a unicorn. We’re not sure whom this unicorn is built for exactly, but it’s a unicorn nonetheless.  Actually, there’s two of them. The Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 comes in both SUV and Coupe SUV variants. What we don’t get about this model, and recipe on the whole, is how on earth is it feasi...

UK racers claim controversial EU ruling will kill motorsports across Europe

Photo courtesy Goodwood Estate. A two-year-old European Union high court ruling became the center of controversy in the United Kingdom last month after racers there raised an alarm that the ruling’s unintended consequences could decimate motorsports there and across Europe. Lambasted for potentially requiring owners and operators of every motorized vehicle from mobility scooters to bumper cars to race cars to obtain liability insurance for their vehicles, the European Court of Justice’s Septem...

NYC voting uses huge cards

I just voted and NYC voting uses huge cards for ballots! They are really huge. Like the size of a small poster. I can understand that they are so large so that people with poor vision can read them. Probably also as a security measure so people couldn’t try to come in with fake ballots and cast them. It was interesting. Each time I vote, the machinery gets smaller and more electronic. This time there were large scanners that sucked in the vote and seemed to deposit it into a secure spot below. ...

Want the highest levels of website security? Get an EC certificate

I helped a client secure their VPN with a certificate, and it turns out that for only 10 times more money they could get a more secure certificate! Here is what happened. Cisco Anyconnect has the ability on firewalls that are at a certain level of OS, to negotiate a higher level of security. That is called an Elliptical curve certificate. With this certificate which costs about $1000 from Symantec you can get a TLS 1.2 level of security. This is far better than a normal certificate that only cos...

An Intriguing Story of a Stork

The stork has been a symbol of beauty in flight as these birds can fly for great distances with only a few flaps of their wings.  To watch a stork in flight is to witness sheer beauty and grace, giving us an art form in the air.  What does the stork have to do with the automotive world; how about a little history? Prior to World War I the Hispano-Suiza company made Spanish vehicles and was well-known as an automotive and engineering firm that was commissioned to begin making plane engines duri...
