Perhaps Thankfully, Kia’s Upcoming Optima Won’t Go the Sonata Route

You have to give Hyundai Motor Group credit — it’s certainly not shy when it comes to design. It hasn’t been for a while, and the 2011 Sonata can attest to that. After Hyundai toned things down for the follow-up generation, the brand realized its mistake: to get noticed alongside Camry and Accord, you needed to […] The post Perhaps Thankfully, Kia’s Upcoming Optima Won’t Go the Sonata Route appeared first on The Truth About Cars.

Ace of Base: 2020 Kia Sportage LX

The Korean brand is no stranger to these frugal pages, stacking its Ace of Base trophy shelf by offering expressively styled machines packed with features that peg the value-for-dollar meter. Hyundai and Kia Invest In … Rimac?

In today’s episode of Surprising Bedfellows, we find the corporate duo of Hyundai/Kia throwing money in the general direction of Rimac. Haven’t We Met Before? Kia’s Upcoming Crossover Looks Awfully Familiar

Kia continues to tease the global market — well, most of it, anyway — with a small crossover it plans to reveal this summer. EV startup Rimac scores $90M investment from Hyundai and Kia

Rimac Automobili, the European EV startup that landed an investment from Porsche last year, has again gained the backing of traditional automakers after Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors jointly invested €80 million, or around $90 million. Beyond the significant cash infusion, the three parties said the deal includes “a strategic partnership to collaborate on the development of high-performance electric vehicles.” In other words, Hyundai and Kia — both of which fall under the ownership of ...

2019 Kia Forte Review – Basic Done Best

I’ll grant that I’ve established a pretty cool second job for myself with this gig writing about cars. 2019 Kia Stinger & Limited-Edition Stinger GTS: Product & Performance Review

We saw the Kia Stinger for the first time at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Nothing has changed since then. The 2019 Kia Stinger remains one of the best high-performance GT sedans for the money. When we first laid eyes on the Kia Stinger, it was transcribing a clear message to European sports sedans: the South Koreans have entered the fray and are set to disrupt the performance sedan market in a big way. NAIAS 2017 had a multitude of attractions, but for us, the Stin...

Kia Motors Continues to “Give it Everything” in New Marketing Campaign for the Third Generation Soul

It has been said that, “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.” And now, with an all-new and greatly expanded Kia Soul lineup in showrooms, Kia Motors America has launched an entirely different marketing campaign that builds upon the brand’s “Give It Everything” mantra and heralds the arrival of the most adaptable version ever of the brand’s iconic urban runabout.“We have taken the Soul to an e...

The 2019 New York International Auto Show

2019 is a curious year for the New York International Auto Show – at first look, there are some automakers that are notably absent – BMW, MINI, Volvo, and Mitsubishi skipped the show this year. In automotive parlance, the show is leaner, or more “muscular”. However the space on the show floor was taken up by some fresh new faces, most prominently with Rivian, the U.S.-based company producing electric adventure vehicles with a 400-mile range. There were some significant launches; among them, Hyun...

Freedom of Choice: Kia’s Stinger GTS Is Whatever Its Owner Wants It to Be

It’s strange how, after an automaker goes to the trouble of building a car aimed at the perpetually cranky enthusiast crowd, you can sometimes forget the vehicle exists. That’s the case with the Kia Stinger. Introduced in 2017, the liftback sedan — offered in turbo four-cylinder and V6 guise, rear- or all-wheel drive — still eludes […] The post Freedom of Choice: Kia’s Stinger GTS Is Whatever Its Owner Wants It to Be appeared first on The Truth About Cars.

New registrations for electric vehicles doubled in U.S. since last year

Electric vehicles, still a small percentage of the total automotive market in the U.S., are beginning to gain ground, according to analysis by IHS Markit. There were 208,000 new registrations for electric vehicles in the U.S. last year, more than double the number filed in 2017, IHS said Monday. That growth in EVs was heavily concentrated in California as well as nine other states that have adopted the Zero Emission Vehicle program. California was the first to launch the ZEV program‚ a state reg...
