2020 Porsche Taycan Timidly Teased Via New Design Sketches

While Porsche has already confirmed its first-ever all-electric model for a September debut, parading it around in Mission E guise, the production Taycan remains a bit of a mystery. Most, including yours truly, are under the assumption that the finished model won’t look all that different from the prototype (probably with a dash of Panamera). But that’s […] The post 2020 Porsche Taycan Timidly Teased Via New Design Sketches appeared first on The Truth About Cars.

Porsche Taycan production forecast may be ‘conservative’

Porsche’s production forecast for its first all-electric vehicle may be too conservative, the company’s head of production said this week. Porsche has targeted 20,000 Taycan electric vehicles for the first year of production. But interest in the vehicle could push those estimates higher, Albrecht Reimold, Porsche’s board member in charge of production, said in an internally produced Q&A. Reimold didn’t provide a specific figure. In the interview, Reimold was asked about the company’s new factory...

Seeking to Boost the Taycan’s Competitiveness, Porsche Promises 62 Miles in Four Minutes – for Free

Well, “free” under certain circumstances. We’re referring to the cost of recharging Porsche’s upcoming electric super sedan, and we’re certainly not referring to the time it takes to reach triple-digit speeds. As it prepares to launch a vehicle that truly deserves the overused title of “Tesla fighter,” Porsche has a perk it wants would-be owners […] The post Seeking to Boost the Taycan’s Competitiveness, Porsche Promises 62 Miles in Four Minutes – for Free appeared first on The Truth About Cars.

Porsche Taycan owners will get three years free charging at hundreds of Electrify America stations

Owners of the upcoming Porsche Taycan will get three years of free charging at hundreds of Electrify America public stations that will blanket the U.S. in the coming months. And in many cases, that will include access to DC fast chargers that will allow the Taycan, which is designed to have an 800 volt battery that can take a 350 kW charge, to get 60 miles of range in just four minutes. That charging speed blows away competitor Tesla, which has set up its own vast network of fast chargers cal...

A year’s worth of Porsche Taycans are already reserved, mostly by Tesla owners

Porsche’s first all-electric sports car might be the most hotly anticipated vehicle of 2019. Even Tesla owners are hooked. In a , Porsche North America president and CEO Klaus Zellmer said if everyone who has placed a deposit to pre-order the car actually buys it, the Taycan will be sold out in its first year of production. Who are these early reservation customers? According to Zellmer, more than half have not owned or do not own a Porsche. More specifically, Zellmer said these potential cu...

Porsche just took a 10% stake in electric car maker Rimac Automobili

Porsche AG is taking a 10% stake in Rimac Automobili, the Croatian hypercar and electric vehicle components company behind the world’s fastest electric car.  This isn’t just a big-storied-automaker-takes-an-interest-in-a-startup kind of story. Rimac has street cred and not just because of its latest electric hypercar, the C Two, which debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2018.  The two-seater C Two is certainly a standout. The electric hypercar has a 1,914-horsepower engine that enable...

Porsche Taycan Already Tuned In the Virtual World

It was only a few days ago when Porsche announced that the production version of the Mission E concept would be called the Taycan. But already independent designers have had a go at modding and upgrading this thing. This is the very first modified Porsche Taycan, and it looks rather interesting.  Penned by famous designer Jon Sibal, the custom Porsche Taycan you see here is slammed and murdered out. I know those sound like dirty words and completely irrelevant as far as tuning is concerned. ...
