Zombieland Saga Episode 5 Impression

On this episode, the zombie idols got hired for a chicken restaurant commercial. Later, they participate in the mud sports. Yes! There's finally no computer graphics (CG) for this particular episode. I seriously hope the producers will stop using that ugly tier CG even though I don't complain that much. Anyway, it was cute to see the zombie girls participate in the chicken commercial. Also, the mud sports event was funny and the makeup couldn't hide their zombie secrets - unlike the previous epi...

When Talking To Boy Scouts Is A Real Moral Dilemma

The Endless

I had heard this described as a horror film, although it borders more on the sci-fi side of things. It’s an interesting premise — what appears to be a UFO death cult is more than it seems. Production values are definitely on the low end, but the film is well done, if a bit long at times — it should have gotten to the “phenomena” part of the story much faster in my opinion. It’s on Netflix, and well worth watching if you’re in the mood for an intellectual sci-fi/supernatural/strange phenomena st...

Halloween III: Season of the Witch

This is such a weird movie. I probably watched it back in the day, but really didn’t have many memories of it. It’s so weird how it really has absolutely nothing to do with the Michael Meyers saga — although I do love the little nod they do through a TV commercial. The whole premise is just so nuts — killing all kids on Halloween through voodoo-powered microchipped masks. I can’t say it’s good, but it was pretty fun to watch. As for the soundtrack, it’s still by Carpenter (who produced, but did...

A24 Delays ‘Under the Silver Lake’ Again to Spring 2019

A24 is trying to turn silver into box office gold with yet another release date delay for David Robert Mitchell‘s divisive neo-noir, Under the Silver Lake. The beloved indie studio is pushing back the release date to April 2019, making this the second delay for the darkly comic noir starring Andrew Garfield. All eyes were trained on David Robert Mitchell following the acclaim of his breakout 2014 horror hit It Follows. And when he scored talent like Andrew Garfield, Topher Grace, and Riley K...

Pride & Prejudice & Zombies

I remember there being a lot of buzz for the book when it originally came out, but it wasn’t really something I was particularly interested in, and same goes for when the movie came out. On Halloween night I was looking for a movie to watch, and spotting this on Netflix, I decided to give it a go. Most of it was pretty fun — especially the bits that contrast high society and zombie killing. It does drag on in parts, but for the most part I enjoyed it, and it’s indeed a fun premise.

‘It’ Director Andy Muschietti Adapting H.G. Wells Classic ‘The Time Machine’, Leonardo DiCaprio Producing

Andy Muschietti directed last year’s adaptation of Stephen King’s It, but Muschietti is no clown. He’s been able to parlay that movie’s record-breaking success into multiple new directing gigs, and now he’s lined up a brand new one: he’ll direct a new adaptation of H.G. Wells‘ classic time travel novella The Time Machine, and Leonardo DiCaprio is on board as a producer. This project is so hot that competing studios have decided to temporarily put aside their differences and work together to bri...

The fellow turned pale, As he yelled “I need ale! “Downing beer is what living’s about.”

One of the two Stephen King films that popped up on Netflix a while back, I kept meaning to watch it and finally got around to it. Can’t say I liked it much though. There just isn’t much of a story here, which is no surprise when you learn that it was adapted from a novella/short story. The film itself is well put together, but I just didn’t find the story to be interesting, a bit too basic really. Might have worked better as a 30-minute episode for an anthology series.

As Demand Increases, Conditions Are Getting Worse For Hollywood Stunt Performers

We’re approaching 2019, and Hollywood stunt performers are still some of the most under-appreciated workers in the entertainment industry. But the lack of recognition at the Academy Awards seems to be the least of their problems. With the increased demand for content comes an increased need for competent stunt people, and with many of them stretched thin, a new report says productions are cutting corners, resulting in dangerous working conditions and therefore more injuries and deaths for stunt...
