Zombieland Saga Episode 9 Impression

On this episode, the idol group encounters a random scooter gang. Later, Saki deals with a gang conflict. So it's cool to see some more past background story for Saki. But, at the same time, I didn't like the random gang conflict plot and how Saki got involved. The random scooter gang is just really lame and shouldn't continue to exist. Although, I did really like the near ending scene since it was actually nice. Now what's going to be the next plot? I can't wait to find out. Overall, lame gang c...

Chamber of Darkness #7 - Bernie Wrightson art & cover, Jack Kirby / Steve Ditko, Ditko reprints

Bernie Wrightson Chamber of Darkness v1 #7, 1970 - One of his few bronze age works for Marvel, Bernie Wrightson's tale of a sculptor of gargoyles is captivating. Stylistically, his brushwork is less delicate and heavier than usual. Fine lines are softened and mesh together for a muddier effect. Still, both his cover and story art are eerily effective. On a humorous note, Wrightson himself is [Author: Ted F]

Netflix cancels ‘Daredevil’ after third season

Despite strong reviews and a fan petition, Netflix said today that it is cancelling “Daredevil” after three seasons. Centered around a blind lawyer-turned-superhero in New York City, played by Charlie Cox, “Daredevil” was the first series released as part of the Marvel -Netflix ...

British Film Institute Says It Won’t Fund Movies That Depict Villains With Facial Scars

For as long as I can remember, scars have been used as a visual shorthand for villainy in movies. I can’t count the number of henchmen I’ve seen who have scars across one eye, and major characters like Le Chiffre from Casino Royale, The Joker from The Dark Knight, and Kylo Ren from the new Star Wars trilogy are recent examples which prove that shorthand is still regularly used today. But the British Film Institute, or BFI, is trying to combat the negative stigma associated with disfigurement: t...

— by BEV QUESTAD — Hidden deep in Portland’s Forest Park, one of the largest city parks (5,100 acres) in the world, a man and his daughter live in a tent abutting a hill, cook under a tarp, and hide camouflaged in the damp, richly green forest. It is inescapably idyllic. They play chess, read, […]

From "Onscreen, Women Are Giving the Patriarchy the Pink Slip" by Candice Frederick

"These characters tackle systems of oppression in their own homes, at work and on the streets, and underscore how fundamentally capable and deserving they are without men setting the terms. They’re moving outside the limits put in place by patriarchs, and occupying spaces from which they’ve been dismissed. As a result, they’re taking back what has always been rightfully theirs: the voices that were stripped from them and the power they’ve now clenched. It’s about time."  --Candice Frederick [Au...
