THE BUREAU: Part Ten, "Your Death" — with a Turing Machine, Bouncing Ball Envelope, and Other Randomized Voltage

Greetings - It's 2019! Let's hope this new set of twelve months is one of good random events to offset the odd occurrences of 2018. Two installments remain in your day at The Bureau, and today you end on Death. This is a random event, though explainable, based on the narrative path of the last few hours. An ending is just one of two possible variables, the other being a continuation. In computer terms, this is a binary decision between ones and zeroes, which often means true or false, or yes...

Bohemian Rhapsody, the box office smash about Freddie Mercury and Queen, is coming home. The Bohemian Rhapsody Blu-ray will hit shelves in February, which the digital copy drops at the end of this month. The biopic received somewhat mixed reviews, with the only consensus being that Rami Malek turned in a great performance as Mercury. ‘Vice’ Director Adam McKay on His Meticulously Made Biopic and How He Thinks Dick Cheney Would React to the Film [Interview]

Too many biopics fall prey to hero worship. In trying to celebrate someone’s life, many biographical films end up lacking humanity, nuance, and, more often than not, hard truths. It plagues bio films, especially the agreeable kind that score all the Oscars. But in the case of Adam McKay‘s Vice, he didn’t make the average biopic. He’s certainly not looking up to Dick Cheney, the former Vice President, but looking down on him with a big ‘ol unforgiving microscope. The drama is an epic that moves ...

The Into the Spider-Verse Costume in Spider-Man PS4 Is Breaking My Brain, in a Good Way

There are a lot of good costumes in Marvel’s Spider-Man. Like, a lot. They kept adding them, too! And while my dear colleague Germain made a pretty solid case for why the game’s mindbogglingly clever “vintage comics-style” suit is one of its best, the game’s last slice of DLC added what has become my Spidey-Spandex of…Read more...

‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Reboot Will Save Disney Millions by Making Johnny Depp Walk the Plank

News Post: God Help Me

Tycho: It was Ryan that first let me in on the Brawl Stars thing, then I got in there, and now Gabriel has invested himself in it and statistically lapped me several times. It’s free to play, yes, but I don’t feel like I’m being shunted into some kind of greasy duct and rendered into broth at all which is novel.  It has systems designed to encourage various kinds of behavior but it’s not “energy” based, which I appreciate.  They want you to play so that other players have someone to play agai...
