Ghosts #92 - Don Newton art

Ghosts v1 #92, 1980 - An English lord, refusing to sell his castle, resorts to scaring off potential buyers with a fake ghost. The artwork has an appropriately noble feel thanks to Don Newton's sophisticated pencils. Although his opening page is a bit dull, subsequent pages and panels show a mastery of characters' facial expressions. Newton's pencils are further enhanced by Frank Chiaramonte's [Author: Ted F]

News Post: Wranglin’

Tycho: Gabriel and his clan, the Crewhuliks, have been dining on a choice slice of free expansion content for Sea of Thieves called “Tall Tales: Shores of Gold” which sounds piratical as all get-out.  It makes it seem like some pirate shit is gonna happen - and fast. Alongside something that can only be considered a “campaign,” they’ve offered a new activity - the ability to fish.  Fish can now be caught, grilled, or even married, so be very careful because a lot of this stuff is in the same me...

Riot Games employees walk out to protest forced arbitration for sexual harassment lawsuits

'League of Legends' developers and others at Riot Games walked out of work en masse on Monday, protesting the company's use of forced arbitration to settle sexual harassment lawsuits. Kotaku was among the first news outlets to report about problems in workplace culture at Riot. At the center of the controversy was COO Scott Gelb, who Kotaku reported “ball tapped, farted on, or humped employees.” Riot Games suspended Gelb for two months without pay, but to date he’s still an employee. A number ...

MAD Magazine’s newest book will help you laugh at the nightmares it makes you relive after 2+ years of the Trump Administration. This Roomba Screams Because Existence Is Pain And So Is Vacuuming

Thank you technology Chores suck. And as long as chores have existed, people have been inventing things that will do them for you. The dishwasher, the washing machine, the dryer, the rideable lawn mower — the list of inventions that exist because we all hate cleaning stuff is a long one. One of the most recent additions to this list is the robot vacuum, which rolls around your house sucking up anything in its path. It doesn’t have a visual sensor, so it changes direction when it bumps into...

We Need To Talk About Last Night’s ‘Game Of Thrones’ Episode

THAT ENDING THOUGH. The sun had risen after ‘The Long Night’, the epic battle for Winterfell was over, and a solid third of everyone in the North was dead, so you’d think that this episode would be a little bit of a breather — for the characters and for everyone watching. And it was, for a bit. Dany, Sam, Sansa, and pretty much everybody else needed time to grieve and strategize, and then of course start the long trip down South. But first, a good old fashion “we narrowly prevented the ...

News Post: Overwatch Action Figures!

Gabe: I used to love playing with action figures as a kid and I was fortunate enough to grow up during what surely must have been their golden age. In the 80’s it seemed like we got a new world full of heroes and villains every Saturday. You had the big ones like G.I. Joe, He-Man and Transformers but then there were hundreds of smaller settings like M.A.S.K., Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Centurions, and Visionaries. Even as a kid I recognized on some level that these were simply commercials f...

Those Were The Happy Days! sample from the Washington Star in 1940

Pete Mullaney has been looking through scans of the Washington Star for old comic strips and passed this one along. Those Were The Happy Days! by Dick Mansfield is from the Washington Star January 7, 1940. Note the mentions of Washington Market, Hagerstown, and Alexandria, although most of the cartoon is generic reminiscences of the past. Today, the Post runs the similar Flashbacks strip by Patrick Reynolds, but that's produced in Pennsylvania. Dick Mansfield was a DC police inspector t...

Kimetsu no Yaiba Episode 5 Impression

On this episode, Tanjirou slays the mutated demon and continues his trial. Later, he starts to gear up and goes back to his master's house.Wow, the mutated demon slaying that our male lead did was pretty heart warming. Also, they did another heart warming scene when he returns. Other than that, the new gear and sword seems to be cool. Now what's going to happen next for the upcoming first mission? This series has been awesome and I'll be looking forward to it. Overall, cool demon slaying action ...

‘Lady and the Tramp’ Remake Will Have Janelle Monae Revamp that Problematic Siamese Cat Song

When you hear the title Lady and the Tramp, two things likely come to mind. One is the famous scene where the two dogs share some back-alley spaghetti. The other is “The Siamese Cat Song.” While dogs eating pasta is still perfectly acceptable (in small doses – don’t let your dogs get overweight!), the “Siamese Cat Song” has not aged so well. In fact, it’s quite problematic, to say the least. Disney is about to unleash a new live-action Lady and the Tramp remake for Disney+, and if you were wond...

Disney to Reboot ‘Beauty and the Beast’ on Broadway

It’s a tale as old as time that Disney can’t get enough of rebooting its wildly popular properties on the screen and on the stage. Disney Theatrical is developing a revival of the Broadway musical that kicked off the 25-year era of the stageplay subsidiary of the House of Mouse: Beauty and the Beast. The new Beauty and the Beast Broadway musical will be a retelling of the classic story but with some key changes that brings this age-old tale to an all-new audience. Disney Theatrical chief Tho...

Anthony Mackie Learned About Falcon’s Storyline in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ From Another Cast Member

Marvel kept a super tight on spoilers for Avengers: Endgame, so much so that most of the cast didn’t even know what happened in the movie. Fake scripts and false endings abounded so as to make sure the more spoiler-prone cast members (read: Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo), wouldn’t let anything spill. But that apparently didn’t keep the Avengers from spoiling it amongst themselves. Anthony Mackie didn’t even know if he would appear in Avengers: Endgame, after his character’s fate in Avengers: Inf...
