Commentary: Alexandra Bowman of Georgetown's "The Hilltop Show" Responds to Callout and Critics

by Alexandra Bowman Ms. Bowman is a 19-year-old student, political cartoonist, and humorist at Georgetown University. We interviewed her last December. When I met her in person last weekend, she told me about a minor university controversy about a pulp paperback book collection in a GU dorm library that had started to go national due to Brietbart picking it up. I offered her space at ComicsDC for her response. For the record, I'm in my mid-50s and grew up with many of the books pictu...

Darwin's Game Episode 7 Impression

On this episode, the Florist continues fighting while Rein attempts to escape. Later, Kaname's clan faces against Wang's Eighth Clan.Man, it was kinda sad to see Florist fight to the bitter end. Also, seeing Rein attempting to escape by herself is just really intense. Other than that, the clan clash action is awesome. Now what's going to happen next? I hope Kaname's clan can claim victory. Overall, cool intense battles and some interesting coding development.

Haunted #14 - Steve Ditko art & cover

Steve Ditko Haunted v1 #14, 1973 - Immersed in a fog on the open sea, a lone fisherman hears a ghostly cry for help. Steve Ditko's cover is a little too simplistic. His interior story fares not much better, using thin parallel lines to simulate a foggy effect (see interior page below). While I applaud the attempt, the execution is only partially convincing. Bad Pitches For The Impractical Jokers

‘Impractical Jokers: The Movie’ is in theaters now! Impractical Jokers: The Movie is hitting theaters today, so we invited the guys to Funny Or Die headquarters to pitch them some new challenges they could do to promote the film. But we here at FOD like to think outside the box, so these aren’t the types of challenges and dares that Murr, Q, Joe, and Sal would usually undertake. For example, would they like to all sit in a group therapy session and hash out some childhood traumas? Would the...

Exclusive ‘Blood On Her Name’ Clip: How to Get Rid of a Body

Matthew Pope ’s Blood On Her Name is a blue-collar revenge thriller with one helluva hard nose compared to other glamorized action spectacles where consequences don’t matter. It’s homestyle, nasty survival storytelling rooted with family at its core and despair weighing heavy on the viewer’s chest. Jeremy Saulnier comparisons are apt, even if the brutality isn’t as gruesome. I was lucky enough to catch the film at last year’s Fantasia International Film Festival where Pope’s title played to m...

President Trump’s Take on Parasite Echoes an Old Debate Over the Role of Non-American Films at the Oscars

Nostalgia has been a regular theme at rallies for President Donald Trump since before he was elected — he is, after all, the man who wants to make America great again. On Thursday night, at a rally in Colorado Springs, Trump directed that sentiment at the movie industry, dismissing the South Korean film Parasite, which won this year’s Oscar for Best Picture. “We’ve got enough problems with South Korea with trade; on top of it, they give it the best movie of the year,” Trump said. “Let’s get...
