Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta Episode 6 Impression

On this episode, Katarina enjoys her summer vocation. Later, she hangs out with her friends. The summer vocation scenes are so cool and especially how certain scenes got nicely transitioned. Also, I was a bit surprised to see an interesting romantic route due to one of the male candidates. Other than that, they revealed some possible connections that Sophia has with Katarina. Now what's going to be the next plot? I'll be definitely looking forward to it. Overall, cool summer vocation scenes and ...

The Exhibition of Girls’ Excuses

At TCAF one year, I think it was, I picked up this adorable small art book from the artist who goes by Question No. 6. (You may know her from her variant covers for the Sherlock and Doctor Who comics.) The Exhibition of Girls’ Excuses is a series of retro-styled pinups, thankfully labeled in English, about annoyances women face. Here are a few I particularly liked: And this one seems particularly timely: I wish I could tell you where to [...]

Hot Wheels #2 - Alex Toth art

Hot Wheels v1 #2, 1970 - After being challenged to a drag race by his nemesis Dexter, Jack Wheeler discovers his own car missing in action. Alex Toth's drawings retain a graphic simplicity, augmented by superb layouts and deft sequencing. Perhaps most cleverly, the artist portrays a massive explosion through creative typography alone (see interior page below). Other artists in this issue include [Author: Unknown]

Super Mario 64 PC Port Expunged From the Internet by Nintendo

Nintendo has held onto its reputation for being against the concept of fan-made fun as a PC port of Super Mario 64 that made its rounds on the Internet has been forcibly taken down by the company. The DirectX 12 port made use of higher resolutions (such as native 4K or ultra-widescreen) than the original […]

Hachi-nan tte, Sore wa Nai deshou! Episode 6 Impression

On this episode, Wells' mage party gets deployed to slay a dragon and fight monsters. Later, the army reinforces them. So the pacing is pretty much horrible. I didn't even like how they randomly skipped Wells' action against the monsters. Although, it was nice to see more of Elise and the other companions doing their part. Other than that, I hope these producers don't exactly end up as the Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou anime adaption. Now what's going to happen next? I guess I can't wait ...

‘In Search of Tomorrow’ Trailer: A Documentary Devoted to ’80s Sci-Fi

Remember the ’80s? Of course you do – we’ve spent the last two decades idolizing that decade for reasons that may never be fully explained. But, to be fair, the sci-fi films of the 1980s were pretty damn rad, and that’s where In Search of Tomorrow comes in. Following in the footsteps of ’80s horror documentary In Search of Darkness, In Search of Tomorrow bills itself as “the definitive ’80s sci-fi documentary,” featuring interviews, effects breakdowns, and more. Check out the trailer below. ...

The Story of My Russian KHL Odyssey

Originally published Nov. 11, 2019 There I was, busy typing away on my laptop, trying to get a piece done, when my cellphone rang. Under normal circumstances, deep in thought, the sound would be jarring enough. However, this time around I was in Russia. A Hockey Writer in Russia If this piece were a movie, the camera would be zooming in on my shocked face right about now. The soundtrack in the background would be going “duh, duh, duhhhhh” for added effect. I mean, who would be callin...

This Week In Trailers: A Toy Store Near You, The Last Blockbuster, The Deeper You Dig, Clementine, Patton Oswalt: I Love Everything

Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Foreign, domestic, independent, big budget: What better way to hone your skills as a thoughtful moviegoer than by deconstructing these little pieces of advertising? This week we get nostalgic in the toy aisle, get supernatural, wander through the video store, get mixed up with the wrong people, and catch u...
