‘Hamilton’ Trailer: Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Broadway Sensation Comes to Disney+ in July

Hamilton has been a Broadway hit ever since it debuted at the beginning of 2015. Unfortunately, that has made it difficult for curious audiences to get a glimpse at the hip-hop fueled historical musical from Lin-Manuel Miranda, even as the show travels around the United States. But soon, everyone will be able to see the Broadway show from the comfort of their own home. A recorded version of Hamilton will be available on Disney+ staring next month, and the first trailer has arrived. Hamilton ...

Final Billy the Pop webcomic by Cole Goco appears

Cole Goco started his webcomic in 2013 when he was in 7th grade. Now he's in college and is wrapping it up with an homage to Bill Watterson's last strip. He talks about the history of the strip at his blog. I've enjoyed watching him grow as a cartoonist. I interviewed him in 2015 for the City Paper,  and wrote the introduction to his first collection. I wish him luck in his future endeavors, and plan to buy his 3rd collection when it comes out. [Author: Mike Rhode]

Mystery in Space #112 - Joe Kubert cover

Joe Kubert Mystery in Space v1 #112, 1980 - Trapped by an alien, a beautiful woman recoils within the confines of her spaceship. This is a common theme among sci-fi covers, yet Joe Kubert does it better than most. Nicely detailed and spontaneous, the layout itself has a mildly claustrophobic feel. Other artists in this DC bronze age science fiction comic include Tom Sutton and Alan Weiss. This [Author: Unknown]

Link Dump

I debated writing about something political today, which was a bad idea and now I'm depressed so here, fun links that might brighten up your day. Zack Snyder Gets Roasted at a Comedy Show - It's nicer than it sounds, and very funny (both the comedian and Snyder are good sports about it too). We Dem Arby's BoyZ - This will seem dumb until the fake part kicks in. Then it's... still dumb, but you'll be laughing. Directors forced by their children to be on TikTok - A thread of several examples on ...

Operating notes: Field Day 2020 prep – the chicks have flown the nest!

The chicks have flown the nest! I took this photo on Friday, not more than 36 hours before the chicks flew the nest. For the past several weeks, we’ve been hosting a robin family in the crook of a downspout just above our front deck. This really is a perfect spot for a nest. It’s protected from the rain, and any four-legged predators would have to climb up the downspout somehow to get to the eggs or chicks. I like hosting the robins, but we also enjoy eating dinner there, reading, and just ge...

‘Mamma Mia!’ May Get Another Sequel to Complete An Unlikely Trilogy

Mamma Mia! was a sensation on stage that was turned into a big screen musical. Featuring the music of ABBA, the 2008 film follows a young girl named Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) as she hopes to figure out who her father is by inviting her mother Donna’s (Meryl Streep) three former lovers (Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgård) to her upcoming wedding. It surprisingly spawned a sequel 10 years later that flashed back to Donna’s younger years with Lily James playing Meryl Streep’s charact...

Trailer for Unwanted Sequel 'Deep Blue Sea 3' Brings the CGI Sharks

"Those sharks have been altered, engineered! They're not sharks!" Wait, there is a Deep Blue Sea 2? When? Warner Bros has released an official trailer for Deep Blue Sea 3, another sequel in the shark action horror movie series that none of us knew was really a series. The first movie, Deep Blue Sea, opened in 1999. Then sequel came out in 2018, but it was a terrible direct-to-DVD sequel and it's utter trash. This new one looks just as trashy, just as terrible, but perhaps somewhat enjoyable ...
