Accessing library from web, gui, etc...

So I now have my calibre running mostly fine on my linux box. I can run it and access via a web browser and somewhat the gui in windows via the windows calibre app. That said, is it recommended or not or does it even matter if I usually want to browse grab books via a browser from devices, but sometimes manage the library with plugins and whatnot with the gui in windows? How do you all go about this with your setup if similar to mine?

best practices/format for free ebooks

I was under the impression that mobi was a better file format than epub but I find that epub seems to be more flexible in that I can edit the book, more specifically, change its title, for example, adding "(Peter Wimsey #3)" to the book title and having it show up with that on my kindle. I was wondering what other people prefer, and why, for free ebooks on the kindle.

New guy from Ohio

Hi, I'm Steve from northern Ohio. I joined today after finding you in a link over on the Kindle forum on Amazon. What a wealth of information here! I'm on my third Kindle; the new 10th generation Kindle Paperwhite. Prior to that I had the first Paperwhite model, and earlier a Kindle Touch. Before the Kindle, I was reading on an iPad using the Kindle app. But the backlit screen in a darkened room bothered my eyes. And when I fell asleep, the iPad was heavier as it bashed into my nose when it fel...

Kobo SOC upgrade ever?

they've literally been using the same SOC or variants of it for literally 6+ yrs now. I was just wondering if/when they'll ever go to a dual core CPU anytime within the next decade.

Mystery and Crime Kabel, Walther: Harald Harst (027) - Die Uhrkette des Bill . V1.0 [German] 23.12.2018

Automatically setting title sort

Does clicking that in bulk edit mean that whatever is listed in the title sort is copied over to the title, or vice versa? I believe that doing this with the author means that the author gets copied over to the sort (which sucks if all the author sorts are set up special).

We should ban the 'best of' end of year lists – they make us feel guilty and old | Alex McClintock

I will continue to take these lists as a reminder that my short time on planet Earth is relentlessly ticking awayI am not a grinch. I do not complain about jazzy Christmas carols, even though I’ve never been a fan. I do not moan about boozy lunch arguments, since I quite like getting sozzled with my family. If pressed, I will even go so far as to defend your right to watch Love Actually. But one holiday institution has got me down this year. Continue reading...

Clara HD Clara HD Expanded Memory Response Time for Large Library

Hello: I currently use a Kobo Aura (2013) with 4.12.12111 firmware. I have an external 32Gb sd card with +11.500 ebooks across some 60 collections and many, many series. Even though response time when switching between reading and either home screen, library, settings or search is above 15 seconds, I still use the 4.x firmware on account of it's ample search features. I do know response time for same interaction is nearly instantaneous on 3.x firmware, but that version lacks series searching,...

NRA statement on bump stocks

Right here: Some have used our October 2017 statement to claim that NRA supports ATFs final rule, but as NRA-ILAs Executive Director Chris Cox noted only days after our statement was issued, We dont believe that bans have ever worked on anything. We also made this clear in our comments to ATF on the proposed rule earlier this year. In our comments, we further advised that ATF should at a minimum make an amnesty period available to deal with the fundamental inequity imposed on law-abiding gun own...

Opinion Gun Banners Indoctrinate Kids with Toy Gun Turn-in Fairfax, VA – -(Ammoland.com)- During the Christmas of 1914, some French, British, and German soldiers along World War I’s Western Front informally ceased hostilities in order to celebrate the holiday. The truce offered the combatants a brief moment to celebrate their shared humanity amidst the otherwise ghastly conflict. No such luck for Americans weary of the United States’ all-consuming culture war. PB Touch Lux 4 quick battery dive

I have a Touch Lux 4 device for a month. Firmware is the latest. If I set it to not turn it off, but just go to standby, it will be completely discharged in one day. Wi-Fi off, firmware check, automatic time update also turned off. What could be the reason for a quick dive. It is said to behave like an Inkpad 3 in terms of energy saving. I have such a device and it is impeccable in this regard. Idea? Advice? Thanks in advance.
