Forma Access Amazon store for Kobo Forma

I prefer the UI and features of Kobo rather than the Kindle. It seems more sensible/logical to me. So, I am about to buy the Forma . Unfortunately, the Kobo Store seems poor is some areas. For example, only 13 books by Andrew Wareham were listed at Kobo, whereas, there are 55 at Amazon, and of these the same 13 are about 40% cheaper. It is a similar story for books by Philip K Allan and by David Donachie. Of course, books by many authors would be equally available and similarly priced. It woul...

Enjoying reading again with the PW4

I spent a long time away from the forum because I just simply wasn't reading. Sure, I read 22 books last year, but for me, that simply isn't enough. I've been reading ebooks for almost 7 years now, starting with the Nook Color. After I bought an iPad, I read exclusively on that, with some print books in between. I read profusely on my Nook Color, even though you could have apps on it they were really limited so I wasn't tempted to open another app like Twitter and get lost. But that changed wi...

Sphero's Sensor Ring Turns Everything Into an Instrument For Fidgety Finger Tappers

Hello. My name is Andrew Liszewski, and I’m an incessant finger tapper. Almost anything in reach can become an impromptu drum kit when I’m burning off nervous tension. It’s often incredibly annoying to those unfortunate enough to be in earshot, but soon my anxious behaviors could yield a future hit on the club scene…Read more...

Lutron Adds a Fan Control Smart Switch to Its Caseta Lineup

New for 2019, Lutron has unveiled a fan control smart switch as part of the existing Caseta product line. It will be available starting in March for $80, with a matching Pico remote priced at $42. Currently, Lutron Caseta offers smart dimmer switches, on/off switches, and plug-in outlet switches, but users will now be able to add their ceiling fans into the mix by controlling their fans remotely from their phones (or by schedule), as well as the option to control the fan speed. The switch looks...

Paul Harrell On 22tcm vs. 5.7×28 vs. 7.62×25

I think this is an informative video.  However, I know the FN 5.7 is an extremely reliable firearm.  I’d like to see this expanded to evaluate the Rock Island pistol shooting the 22tcm.  A review of the ammunition isn’t quite good enough to form an opinion.

Personal Document Library not showing up on Kindle?

Hi there. I just got a Kindle DX graphite for Christmas and I can't see any of the books I've sent from Calibre (via the Send by email feature) to my Kindle address. I also have a Kindle Paperwhite 3 that displays them just fine. The question is, is the Kindle DX too old for showing up the documents from the cloud? Or this has to do with the fact that Kindle DX can't connect to some sites (like Wikipedia) because Amazon stopped offering updates for that model? In that case, jailbreaking it w...

Adding Plugin to Toolbar

I couldn't find this in the User Guide. The User Guide made it easy to install the FlightCrew plugin, but the green check mark doesn't appear on the toolbar. In the plugin manager I've designated in the "Assign as plugin 1" box, and clicking on the funny icon next to the spellcheck icon does run FlightCrew, but is there a way to change the icon to the green check mark shown in the User Guide?

Did something bad happen to the cssutils module? I just installed calibre v3.37 and now every plugin I use which manipulates CSS is inaccessible. I tried to revert to my older run-from-source calibre, which I last updated about a week ago. Unfortunately this doesn't work either. This is the error message I got when I tried to start up my run-from-source version Code: calibre, version 3.36.0 ERROR: Startup error: There was an error during calibre startup. [Editor Plugin] - Enabling 'Customize plugin' dialog directly from the Editor

Hi, everyone! Firts of all, I am one BIG NOOB. So, if you can help me, please be as detailed as possible. :D Here is the deal: I've created an Editor Plugin (ACE) and it is working fine. It can be configured via Preferences > Plugin > Customize Plugin. It has a simple dialog with only 3 options. What I want is to enable this configuration to take place directly from the Plugin Icon (actualy, a litle arrow beside it) on the Editor Plugins toolbar. I've managed to create the menu entry 'Custo...

BOTW: Kevin’s AR9 Build

The 23rd Installment of Build of the Week was contributed by Kevin.  I really like the look of that hand guard. Dark Wave. A sailing adventure turned nigtmare!

“Dark Wave” is a novel about a couple that embark on a sailing trip of a lifetime, only to be caught in an life and death struggle against the power of Mother Nature. It follows the couple as they learn to survive by drawing on their inner strenghts during times when all hope is lost. I love the way scriveren alows me to freewrite different sections but would love to see if you have suggestions for the formatting options truly on the Ipad without having to resort to using the windows computer. Thank you.

Sending books to two Pocketbook devices

I have a Pocketbook InkPad 3 and a Pocketbook Touch HD 3. I use this save template for sending books to the devices: {:'current_library_name()'}/{author_sort}/{title} - {author_sort} On the InkPad 3 it works fine, but on the Touch HD 3 the books are saved in this directory: Books/Books/Author_sort/ The first book folder already existed on the device before saving any books onto it. I've tried changing the template for the Touch HD 3, but then the books where saved in the main directory of th...

Dictionary of foreign words

Hi folks, in my opinion the findings in the dictionaries installed in my Kobo Aura One are very poor. This is at least to say for what I get in German. I do not mean translations from one language to another - e.g. En-Ge - I mean findings related to the meaning of words one does not know (you put your finger on the unknown word and the Kobo software is searching in the installed pre-selected dictionary whether there is an explanation for the highlighted word. For most of the words to which I wo...

Moving from Zinio to another reader on Android

A few years ago I started using Zinio on my android tablet to read magazines I electronically subscribe to. The problem I'm having now is that once you download each month's copy it stores the magazine in the tablets internal storage and now I'm low on resources on my tablet. Unfortunately, Zinio does not allow you to store your magazines on an SD Card and I'm trying to determine if there's a manual way to move my magazines from internal storage to my SD card but be able to restore the magazin...

K5 Need Some Advice Unbricking A Kindle Touch - Spent Weeks Trying And Dunno What To Do!

Hi there, I have been reading posts on this forum for quite a few weeks attempting to unbrick my kindle touch and now I’m totally stumped. I’ll run down a list of what I’ve tried so far and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I’m starting to think it’s beyond repair without getting inside it physically. First, I bricked it trying to follow some advice on how to compile Debian on to it and made some mistakes which I tried to clean up but obviously it didn’t go as planned. I...
