Concealed Carry Corner: Carrying through a Polar Vortex

Much of the United States recently experienced some truly insufferable cold temperatures coupled with strong winds and snow. Only something this miserable could catch the coined phrase of polar vortex from our national weather reporters. If you are reading this, you are likely a hearty individual and survived the (insert cinematic music here: dun, Dun, […] Read More … The post Concealed Carry Corner: Carrying through a Polar Vortex appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

POTD: Downright Massive Paper Shotshells

The shotshells in the photo are early 20th century offerings from Remington. On the right edge of the photo is your standard 12 gauge. On the opposite edge is a monstrous 3 gauge shell. I can only imagine what was running through the mind of the unfortunate soul who loaded the gun with a bore […] Read More … The post POTD: Downright Massive Paper Shotshells appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

Burbank’s horror haven Dark Delicacies is moving, thanks to generous fans and a tweet from Guillermo del Toro

Whether you’re a die-hard horror movie and fiction fan, a professional author or filmmaker of the stuff or just a casual stroller through Burbank’s quirky Magnolia Park business district, Dark Delicacies has been an institution for nearly 25 years. One that seemed doomed just a few weeks ago. Del and Sue Howison, the husband-and-wife owners/founders of the first purely horror-oriented book and gift store announced that, when their current lease ends in May, they would have to leave the space Dar...

Trump Administration Breaks Campaign Pledge, Places Gun Owners under Siege

Actually, the people “defending the Second Amendment” are the ones President Trump's Department of Justice has been fighting. The Long Darkness - A Parallel Story to The Danged Rocks

Chapter 1 “Oh, for the love of …..” Steve Miller exclaimed as the television and lights shut off. The house was instantly pitch black inside. The blinds had been drawn tight in an attempt to dissuade any trick-or-treaters from intruding on Steve’s evening, so no ambient light was visible. Better to be thought a child molester than keep going to the door all night. Too bad it didn’t stop all of the little snots. It was dark enough Steve couldn’t even see shadows as his eyes worked to adjust...

Mystery and Crime Kabel, Walther: Harald Harst (036) - Der Mord im Warenhause. V1.0 [German] 07.02.2019

Harst...

Adding fonts results in weird font names

I've manually added three fonts to my Kobo Forma: Bitter, Bookerly and Literata. I've done this the proper way, AFAIK: each font contains four files, correctly named, and I've put them in the folder "font" in the root of the device. The fonts show up in the list of fonts, but so do these fonts: KBJ-TsukuMinPr6N-RB KBJ-UDKakugo Pr6N M I'm not sure if these are new fonts, different names for any of the added fonts, or different names for factory fonts that had a more recognizable name before I...

Duplicat book folders

Good day I am fairly new to Calibre and don't use it very often but here goes. My wife has a large Calibre file and today noticed that most the books in it are there twice and in the same format IE mobi or epob. If I look in a folder for an author there are two folders for each book and both contain the same folders with the same name but the number on the end is different. If I open them they contain the exact same files. The Calibre folder is 19.7 GB and contains over 21.000 folders and 5...

Google Created Faster Encryption for Low-End Android Phones and IoT Devices

Google Low-resource Android phones and IoT devices don’t have the processing power to use modern encryption services, which makes them vulnerable to hacking. That’s why Google is introducing Adiantum, a super-fast encryption standard for low-resource Android devices. Trending: Wall Murals

I’m back from my whirlwind trip to Australia! Wow, what a fun time I had! It took me a full day to acclimate, reconnect with my family, and feel mostly normal, it’s quite a long journey. Today I’m back to work! Have you noticed the growing popularity of wall murals? They’re showing up everywhere in room reveals, they’re definitely trending and arguably the cooler version of the painted accent wall that was so popular in the 2000s. Creating a scene that spans the length and height of a full wall ...

How to Block Specific Artists on Spotify

Spotify is beta testing a feature that will you block music from an artist you don’t like. The option will likely come to everyone eventually but remains in testing for now. The good news is that it’s pretty easy to use. Sometimes you really can’t stand a particular artist’s music. It’s not that you don’t like the person, but the music they put out doesn’t sync with you. And while Spotify is great for discovering new music and artists, it can be aggressive to suggest well-known musicians whethe...
