Ebook-convert producing different recipe results

Hi, When using the Calibre desktop app to download the subscription version of The Wall Street Journal, with username and password, it pulls all the stories perfectly. When using ebook-convert to do the same thing, it doesn't manage to pull the subscription version, just the free one, so you get only half the story and a link telling you to log in. Command I am using is: Code: ebook-convert "The Wall Street Journal".recipe wsj.mobi --username USER --password PASS Happy to share lo...

POTD: Snek Themed AR-15 Lower Receiver Shows Its New Colors

As you’ve seen in the title picture, today’s Photo Of The Day is a brightly colored, snek themed AR-15, giving a light-hearted “danger” warning to anyone that would attempt to take its user’s rights away.  Reddit user /u/ForynGilnith said he enjoyed using Duracoat for the first time and was pleased with how it worked in […] Read More … The post POTD: Snek Themed AR-15 Lower Receiver Shows Its New Colors appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

Learning to See

Learning to See is a fascinating new novel based on the life of Dorothea Lange, the female photographer who is best known for her searingly honest photographs that showed a nation the horrors and human toll of the Great Depression. Elise Hooper has brought to life not only the artist herself, but also her place, […]

Help for a writer.

Hello, I'm a very long time lurker from Rome in Italy. But now I need to come out in the open and ask for advice. I fell in love for a Russian author and I want to write a book about him. I will have to make back and forth a lot from the English translation and the text in Italian. I do have a professional translator for Russian, but I need to check with the english version too. So, what device about 13 inches or less, but not much more, that have light, a pen, usb-c, android, fast refr...

Oregon Anti-Gunners Launch Attack; 20 Rounds a Month in One Bill!

One bill now in the Oregon Legislature would limit people to purchasing 20 rounds of ammunition a month. (Dave Workman) U.S.A. –-(Ammoland.com)- While gun rights activists across the country have been focusing considerable attention on the war being waged against Washington state gun owners, because that state is something of a “test tube” for gun control schemes, there’s a second front in the effort to erode the Second Amendment going on south of the Columbia River in neighboring Oregon. Per...

Fate, Tempted

You know, it is hard to know how to blog a project when it’s all going really well.  I mean, could there possibly be anything more boring to read about than a piece of knitting that has no problems? Such is the case with the Dover Castle Shawl. Actually, let me be clear. It’s not just that this thing has no problems – It’s that it is all going so swimmingly that I cannot even dream up a bit of dramatic interest. Nothing, except for yesterday I sneezed and dropped a stitch, and then I picked it ...

Trying different glass...

While inexpensive for a full frame zoom lens with that range, the 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM was disappointing. Not very sharp, lots of chromatic aberration.Yesterday I swapped another old lens onto the T1i, the EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM. While nominally the same aperture range, the better glass and Image Stabilization make a big difference in sharpness. [Author: Tam]

Convince me please.

Hello there, wish I had found these forums before they seem very helpful. I'm going to retire my Nook touch with silly light appendage. I'd like an ereader with a bigger screen so some of the 7.8 inch models look quite nice. At the moment I'm swayed between the kobo forma and the Mars likebook. But to be perfectly honest I really don't think the SD card slot wi-fi and Bluetooth are much use to me, all I want to do is lie in bed and read a book and as such I know I'll find an Android e-reader p...

Serious Blasphemy

"Through the grapevine has come a hint that the designated hitter may become a universal reality in Major League Baseball in the not-too-distant future.Hurry up. Oh, for the love of David Ortiz, Edgar Martinez and Frank Thomas, please hurry up."As of right now, the National League is the only remaining holdout of Real Baseball, which clearly states in Rule 1.01 that "Baseball is a game between two teams of nine players each", not "nine players plus a designated hitter".Once the Designated Hitter...

Sell Kobo Mini black

Hardly used, collecting dust in my drawer. I bought it once whilst on a journey as I thought that such a small device would perfectly fit for journeys but unfortunately it's not that small, the frame is about 15% of the advertised screen size (does not fit nicely in any pocket). Asking for 20 EUR, or buy me a gift https://ereader.store/en/accessoires...r-133--32.html Buyer will have to cover shipping costs, from Switzerland, or may collect it in Lausanne.

Udav Pistol Moving Closer To Adoption By Russian Military

A few months ago, TFB’s Hrachya reported on the Udav pistol as a likely contender to replace the aging Makarov pistols currently in the Russian military service. According to RG.ru and RT.com in January 2019, the military is hoping for a quick replacement of the Makarovs. Even though the Udav pistol seems to be closer to adoption, […] Read More … The post Udav Pistol Moving Closer To Adoption By Russian Military appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

Victoria + Albert Goes Color Crazy

If you know anything about Victoria + Albert you doubtless know about Englishcast, the company’s proprietary tub material that takes the preternaturally durable and lovely material of Volcanic Limestone, finely mills it, and blends it with quality resins: “The finished result is Englishcast, a world-class stone composite that delivers unrivalled strength, durability and beauty.” Now imagine if that very same material shone forth not just as a blindingly light white—which is exceedingly beautifu...

How to Make a Bootable Clone of Your Mac’s Hard Drive

dourleak/Shutterstock There are a lot of reasons for wanting to boot from an external drive. If you’d like to keep files synced between a desktop and laptop, expand your storage, or have a bootable backup copy of your system, there’s a hidden feature in Disk Utility that makes it easy. Generally, booting from an external drive will be slower, even with new Thunderbolt and USB-C drives. Those are still much slower than the solid state drives (SSDs) found in most new Macs. So while this isn’...

Police issuing No-Knock Warrant Results in Officers Death

Image from CBS58.com Image from CBS58.com Arizona -(Ammoland.com)- In Houston, on Monday, 28 January, a no-knock search warrant resulted in the wounding of four police officers and the death of a middle-aged couple who had owned their home for 20 years. The deaths and woundings seem to have come from the use of the no-knock warrant. There have been many problems with no-knock warrants. Thousands of no-knock warrants are used each year. In Milwaukee, on 6 February, a Milwaukee tactical team...
