Reader’s Choice BEST AR-15: POF P415 Edge 5.56 NATO

This was one of the most interesting Reader’s Choice polls we have conducted thus far! The voting results we received were close, but simultaneously the victor won by a landslide. The diversity of suggestions from you, our beloved readers, was very impressive as well. The thing that was consistent across the board is the caliber: […] Read More … The post Reader’s Choice BEST AR-15: POF P415 Edge 5.56 NATO appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

Maps spread over two pages

I wanted to display some maps with a square or wider aspect across two pages, while preserving the aspect ratio and filling as much of the screen as possible. This is the solution I came up with using SVG, I'm posting it here in case someone else might find it useful or can help me simplify or improve it. A feature of this method is that instead of just dividing the map into left and right halves and displayiing one half on each page, it displays as much of each side of the map as possible, so ...

Onyx Front Light Trick (Nova Pro/Note Pro)

I was watching a review of the Nova Pro and the reviewer said if you long-press the "back" button at the bottom of the device, it would cycle the front light on and off...I tried it on my Note Pro and sure enough, it works! Anyway, it even works within a running app, like Kindle...since we don't have a manual/user guide for the Note Pro available yet, I thought I'd post this tip here. FYI, I'm running v2.1 on the Note Pro..not sure if that makes a difference or not.

Book: Catch and Kill

I wasn’t able to sleep last night, so after doing the final copy edit on Do More Faster 2nd Edition, I started reading J.D. Lasica’s new book Catch and Kill: A high-tech conspiracy thriller. My brain was toast and my head was full of dripping dead virus goo, so I hoped some good mental floss would help pass the time. I finally crawled into bed at about 3am after reading about half of the book. Today was supposed to be the emotional warm up for the Knoxville Marathon. Instead, it has been ...

Onyx Boox Note, not all font sizes possible?

On my Onyx Boox Note the selection of font sizes is limited since the incremental steps between font sizes are very rough. I can e.g. select font sizes 12, 16, 20, 24. But I can not set the size to 14, 18 or 22. Am I missing something? Is there a way to set the font size to your exact liking?

Six on Saturday – 30th March 2019

Washington Post May 28, 1974: A group of armed men breaks into my apartment. They start going through drawers and cabinets — but I don’t know what they’re looking for, I’m just a rock songwriter. One of them, more gentle, asks that I accompany them “just to clarify some things.” The neighbor sees all this […]

Nook Glo Not working

Before I sell this for parts, I am wondering if someone else has an idea for a fix? I'm getting screen freezing. I've reset to the factory a couple of times, but it continues starting about 200 pages read again. This is an older Nook glow. I think I bought it in 2014. It has the rubbery ring around the edges. One day, the ring came off in my purse and that problem started not long after, so I think something got damaged.

Useful tool for people reading CBZ files: CbxConverter

CbxConverter is an easy tool to automate conversion of comic books for reading on KOReader. It's Windows-only, but there's a blurb on the website about it potentially working with Wine. It allows you to mass convert to CBZ (since CBR files cannot be read on KOReader) and you can also resize the images: right click each job, select "Resize..." and enter an appropriate scaling under "Resize to" (use the Img width column as reference). If you're reading on an eReader, you can also add Code: ...

Bump Stocks, Red Flag Gun Grabs Dominated the News This Week

The ATF regulations define bump stocks as “machine guns” and seriously implicate the right to own AR-15’s and many other semi-automatic firearms. USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- Supreme Court Refuses to Issue Stay to Protect Gun Owners As you know, Gun Owners of America has been fighting the ATF’s bump stock ban in the courts. But given that the turn-in period for bump stocks ended this past Monday, GOA sought an emergency stay from the U.S. Supreme Court. Sadly, on Thursday, the Supreme Court refused...

Kid Konnection: Most Marshmallows

Every weekend, I host a feature called Kid Konnection -- a regular weekly feature about anything related to children's books. This week I'm going to share with you a picture book that I've been dying to review because it is such a cute concept! Summary: Most marshmallows are born into marshmallow families, play with marshmallow friends, and go to marshmallow school where they learn to be squishy. Most marshmallows read a book before bed and then fall asleep to dream ordinary marshmallow dreams....

Weekend Cooking: The Modern Cook's Year by Anna Jones

I'm not a full-time vegetarian, but on average half our dinners and almost all of our breakfast and lunch meals are meat free (though not vegan). I'm not going to get into the whys, but I'm one of those people who actually limits soy intake, so vegetarian cookbooks that rely heavily on tofu, tempeh, and other soy-based products aren't my favorite. Enter Anna Jones's The Modern Cook's Year (Abrams Books, March 26), which I received as part of the . This collection of 250 vegetarian recipes live...
