A Facebook group called Ozark Face Masks for Cox and Mercy Hospitals is organizing volunteers to sew masks for our local hospitals using kits with materials they provide and that the hospitals know can go through their sterilization process. They organize curbside pick-up of kits and drop-off of the finished masks at churches in Springfield and Branson Missouri. [Author: PaMdora]

Magazine subscription question

Anyone subscribe to magazines on your kindle (or kindle app)? I remember a criticism I heard about was that after so many issues have gone by the older ones drop off and you cannot access them anymore. Is this true?

E-reader, for library books & PDFs with some caveats

I have been reading these forums for a few hours and haven’t quite found the answer to my search for a “middle-of-the-road” e-reader. I am looking to buy an e-reader primarily to read books, in e-ink, downloaded via overdrive from my public library. I do have a Prime account and I do use audible, but I mostly use audible on my iPhone. I do not buy many books - I mostly borrow them. I am also, however, interested in a few functionalities: 1) PDF reading: I am a graduate student and would ...

Anti-Gunners Demand Gun Shop Closures; Have They Lost the Gun Fight?

Bare shelves are a common sight at gun stores during any panic – but it's good to see gun companies coming together in spite of shortages. U.S.A. –-(Ammoland.com)- Two billionaire-backed gun prohibition lobbying groups—Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety and the Seattle-based Alliance for Gun Responsibility—have launched an all-out effort to convince state officials across the country to close gun shops during the COVID-19 pandemic panic. Chuck's Reviews Transformers Cyberverse Ultra Class Rack N' Ruin

While I don't know much about Rack N' Ruin the character, the toy is really fun with an intuitive transformation that results in a solid vehicle mode. The Spark Armor "Gimmick" doesn't hinder the articulation of the figure and is quite fun. Rack N' Ruin is definitely worth an addition to your collection.

In Docx to ePub Conversion window, wanna add Kobo Forma in the "Output Profile" list

I am in the Conversion screen. On the top-left it says "Input format:docx". On the right-top corner, it says "Output Format: Epub". On the left side, I choose "Page Layout". The middle-top of the window is the "Output profile" section. There's a lot of devices there, but not Kobo Forma. How can I add my Kobo Forma, which has specs of 1440 × 1920 and 300 PPI, to the list?

Look at this amazing popsicle stick house

Wow. That's all I can manage to get out of my keyboard, I'm so astonished by how gorgeous and dedicated this wonderful crafted popsicle stick house is. IMGURian @dawilah is taking this to a completely different level. I love it. The build video is glorious. I feel a real fondness for the medium, as a GenXer who was taught to do craft projects in the 1970s. Oh yeah we used popsicle sticks. Popsicle stick house

Cannot get pop-up footnotes to appear on Android Kindles

I've been trying to get pop-up footnotes work on my MOBI file. It's really hit or miss. They DO work on an E Ink Kindle I have (not sure what model -- I think it's just the most basic Kindle). They also work in Calibre. They DO NOT work in two different Android Kindle apps. In both these apps, the footnote reference link sends you back to where the note is located at the end of the chapter (like a normal footnote would). However, on both these Kindle apps, I am reading other books that DO hav...

Broken viewer

So I'm not sure exactly when this happened, I usually read on other devices, but my 'E-book viewer' has stopped working. It brings up a window that is entirely in black. It has a title bar, and...nothing. This is on Windows 10, normal install of Calibre 64-bit. I mean, I have a reasonable amount of plug-ins, but none of those do anything in the viewer, right? Some clues: 1) This happened a while back, but _after_ the new viewer. I know that was working at some point. 2) It's not actually brok...

Generations Selects Super Megatron Comic English Translations

Well well, it didn't take very long at all for someone to do Translations of Generations Selects Super Megatron Comic that was just released. Thanks to the man behind the wonderful Cybertronian TRG books, Doug Dlin was kind enough to translate both volumes and share them by way of BWTF.com. Many thanks to Doug and Ben for making this happen.

Stumped

I made the stupid mistake of moving my calibre collection of several thousand ebooks, from the past decade to a network share and accessing it from a remote location at the same time that it was open on my computer. As a result, the database was corrupted and I cannot access it anymore. Even the 'repair database' fails, as does import from previous backup. Is there any way that I can rebuild the database to a new one? Deleting the metadata.db file (after moving to backup) and restarting calibr...

Set UNIX Permissions of files in library

Is there a way to set the UNIX file permissions on files and directories Calibre creates in a library when a new book is added? That is something like a chmod mask? I like to set the setgid bit on directories so any new file or directories inherits the group of the parent directory. This way I can create a common group "media" and add any user that need access to the file or directories (e.g. myself, LazyLibrarian, etc.) to that group. To do this directorys need to be 2775 and files 0664. Than...
