3 Piece Outdoor Conversation Sets

Thanks for the kind comments on my simple mini patio makeover. Continuing with the outdoor theme, I’ve gathered some modern three piece sets to tuck in a corner of your yard or arrange on a patio or balcony or porch, ones that will give you an instant conversation set on delivery. A few of you inquired about how to assemble your own set of three by combining a pair of chairs with an accent table from a different source, I created a few examples below. :) Coordinated Sets wicker bistro navy ...

Plants and Pandemics, and, Gardeners Go for the Glory!

The latest in the on-going correspondence between Marianne Willburn and Scott Beuerlein. April 29, 2020 Cincinnati, Ohio Dear Marianne, I apologize for taking so long to reply to your last letter, but it’s been a hell of a time. My mother’s health has been deteriorating for a long time and on April 11th she passed away. We’ve all got a date. That was hers. But Lord knows she pushed it back and back and back, God bless her. The last six months have been a cycle of fragile normal days spent at hom...

Chirrp! Whirrr! Chortle!

Holden is turning out to be a very mischievous cat...who has a hard time getting away with much of his intended mischief because he's also the most talkative cat I have ever encountered.Seriously, even when he's just walking around the house, he kind of narrates his journey to himself with a constant stream of subvocalized chirps and warbles that I have to believe are Holden-speak for " Well, here I am walking down the hall, and now I think I'm going to turn into the dining room and...whoops! It...

April linkfest

This month’s book recommendation is The Plague and I, published by Betty MacDonald in 1948. The book is a lightly fictionalized account of MacDonald’s nine-month stay in a Seattle tuberculosis sanatorium in the late 1930s, when TB was known as “the white plague”; there were no effective vaccines; and treatment entailed rigorous bedrest, hearty meals, and an occasional session of artificial pneumothorax, in which gas was injected into the pleural cavity. Survival was far from certain and recover...

Quote of the Day - Firehand Edition

In answer to a question I asked him on the Book of Face - What is the Chinese word for "Social Justice Warrior"?  Baizuo — 白左 literally, “white left” — is an internet term that came into being in the mid-2010s. It’s a derogatory word for liberal elites, specifically those who are educated and whose “obsession with political correctness” serves only to “satisfy their own feelings of moral superiority,” according to an article by political scientist Zhang Chenchen, which brought the term to ...

Consensus Reality has broken down...

"Triggering them libtards" is the Red Tribe version of virtue signaling. Our GOP governor got called a "RINO cuck" by internet randos for wearing a mask when he went to meet Air Force Two today. The same governor whose wife is a firearms instructor and who had an official inaugural event at a shooting range. [Author: Tam]

Marvin SxS and “Picture Books”

Hello All, I am trying to use Marvin SxS on an IPad Air 2 for mostly children’s books but I can’t get them to display correctly. I am using mostly ePub formats. I have attached the image of how it looks on my screen. In landscape mode it’s so small and won’t display both pages (even though I changed the setting to). The portrait mode is still small too. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Can someone please help? Thank you! Example 1; Landscape Example 2; Landscape Landscape

how to find the latest added books in koreader

On kobo reader, the default system allows a view to see the latest added books, because it uses a database to track when books are added. It is useful to review books when I add them in blocks (I add i.e. 20 more books manually, by ftping them to the kobo reader, and I put them in different FOLDERS, then I use to take a quick look at them in nickel (the default system in kobo readers)). It is possible to do something similar in koreader ? Maybe with a plugin or integration with another tool ? ...

The astonishingly prolific author/scientist Clifford Pickover is a math enthusiast with a talent for ferreting out fascinating anecdotes about math, and writing them in a way that inspires wonder. Accompanied by beautiful illustrations, Pickover’s about cicada-generated prime numbers, magic squares, the Golden Mean, Penrose Tiles, Xeno’s Paradox, and the butterfly effect just might turn you into a lover of math. It worked for me.
