How to Win: 5 Top Slot Machine Hacks to Become a Winner

As they say — ‘money won is twice as sweet as money earned.’ This quote may explain why the average adult in Nevada spends $5000 at casinos and/or on the lottery every year. This is What the Education Bureaucracy is Afraid Of

Excerpt:Schools are shut, we’re in lockdown and I’m playing teacher. My daughter is 13 and doing a project on world war 2. It’s basically a critical thinking piece about why it is important to remember the atrocities with also room to argue that we should be able to forget about it and move on.I feel incredibly strongly about remembering WW2, for a variety of logical reasons I won’t get into, but also I’m quite an emotional person who wants to remember. However for the purpose of this project I ...

Firearms and Gun Handling of “Extraction” with Chris Hemsworth

Have you ever thought about what got you interested in guns in the first place? For me, growing up in a small apartment in a big city with no access to guns and hunting, it was definitely action movies. But when I watch most action movies from the ’80s and ’90s right now, I can’t […] Read More … The post Firearms and Gun Handling of “Extraction” with Chris Hemsworth appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

Virtually Wandering the World

Remember when we used to take airplanes to far away places and stand next to hundreds of strangers all looking at famous sights? I miss that, and I bet you do too. My favorite thing is exploring a new city or country but like so many I’m unable to do it anytime soon. I’ve got my fingers crossed I can go somewhere on my travel bucket list in the fall. I never thought I’d write a post about taking virtual tours of places around the world, but come to think of it, even without a pandemic, it’s fun ...

Onyx nova 2 and chrome

Hello, I discovered J-novel club last month and it was a bit like being at Christmas in advance. In France the light novel is not as extensive as here and the licenses are much, but then much less numerous. Not yet sufficiently proficient in English to be able to really enjoy reading a complete book in this language, I translate the premium epub into French and convert it to put it on my kindle. But for catching up and prepub, I read on my android tablet (10 ") via chrome (instant translation...

Embracing collaboration in the midst of scarcity

Many of us would probably say that we and our businesses operate in a world of scarcity, where my gain is at my competitor's expense. That's why it's so refreshing to read a story like this one from FastCompany, Why we opened our pandemic-born delivery platform to competitors. Despite the SBA's Paycheck Protection Program there are going to be countless businesses that never reopen. Some of them could probably be saved if that segment's business community worked together, rather than in oppositi...

*GAME TIME* Qwixx Card Game

We had the pleasure of trying out another fantastic Gamewright game – this time we played Qwixx. There are two versions – dice and cards. The dice game sounds super fun, but we played the card game and it was easy to learn but fun and challenging for all my kids (ages 13, 11, 8, […]

Video Shows Unarmed Black Georgia Man Ahmaud Arbery Being Shot to Death While Jogging

Video footage showing the fatal shooting of Ahmaud Arbery—the unarmed 25-year-old black man who was chased down by two white men while jogging in Brunswick, Georgia—has surfaced, prompting a call for the grand jury to review the case. As seen in the video from the February 23rd incident, Arbery was jogging in a neighborhood in Brunswick, Georgia when he was approached by Travis McMichael and his father, retired District Attorney investigator Gregory McMichael. I am trembling with anger over wha...

What Day is it again?

I don’t know about you but I have been feeling like I stepped into an episode of the Twilight Zone. Life is very strange these days. What has been happening here? Spring has arrived and the garden is happy. My seeds are beginning to grow. I made a baby blanket gift. I learned something new. I had never heard about stack wound vs cross wound threads. I read/learned about it . After reading this, I set up my sewing machine like this for when I us...

Plugboards not working with new Kindle

I just upgraded to a new Kindle Basic and copied my library over. But it seems my plugboard setup isn't working. Code: any format:any device = ([{series:|| }{series_index:0>2s|[|] }{title}] -> title) If I understand correctly this shouldn't care that my kindle device has changed. But when I sync a book like `Old Man's War` appears as `Old Man%27s War` on my kindle instead of `Old Man's War [01] Old Man's War` I'm not sure where the percent-encoded apostrophe is coming from either, bu...

Picture view?

I always found it odd that you can’t view the pictures in the Pop up notes. Is there any way to include them in there? It’s such a hassle having to leave the book and go into the journal to see pictures that I’ve appended to highlights. If I tap on the highlight, I see that little thumbnail on the bottom right just mocking me. I should be at least able to tap it to expand. Is there a workaround for this? Perhaps with a custom text select menu? And is there any way to copy the dictionary defini...

Once Again, SCOTUS Kicks 2A Can Down the Road…But Why?

The Supreme Court has, at least for now, kicked the Second Amendment can a bit farther down the legal road. How much longer can this continue? (Dave Workman photo) U.S.A. –-(Ammoland.com)- Once again, the U.S. Supreme Court has essentially kicked the proverbial can down the road, not accepting while not rejecting any of ten potential Second Amendment cases that were part of the May 4 “Order List” of cases submitted for possible acceptance. Since the June 2010 decision (5-4) in McDonald v. Cit...

Quilty Quilt Love

Quilting is my thing. Well…one of my things. I have a lot of things. I love cutting fabric up into little pieces and putting it all back together. Some might say this is crazy but…isn’t that what building with wood is too? Cut up a piece of wood into littler pieces of wood and put […]

Giffords’ and Democrat Mayors’ Plea to Congress Can Only Make Urban Violence Worse

Convincing them the problem is with the guns is just another swindle in the long con. (Giffords/Facebook) U.S.A. – -(Ammoland.com)- “Four people were killed and 41 others were wounded in shootings across Chicago so far over the first weekend of May,” Sun-Times Media Wire reported Monday. “Twenty-one of the weekend's victims were shot in a seven-hour period from Saturday night to Sunday morning, including five teenagers wounded in a drive-by in Lawndale on the West Side.” “As Chicago struggles...

Pixel scroll driven by mouse scroll wheel

I’m looking for a pixel scroll driven by the mouse scroll wheel. And possibly, a pixel scroll using the up/down keys. I had hoped such a thing would already exist in the Windows version of Calibre. That sounds like a feature request. But I am willing to help. But I don’t know where to start. Once started, I would look at the smooth auto-scroll and try to drive that code not from a timer but from the scroll wheel. Experience: COBOL (but likely not useful here), OS level mainframe assembly lan...

It still doesnt appear once i've opened it and am reading it. I have to keep going into Library to get to it. I've managed to get ones already sent to show by going into the app settings and clearing the cache/data (basically resett...

Upcoming Windows installer changes

The next version of Sigil (likely v1.3.0) will see some changes made to the installer for Windows. This is primarily to accommodate the ability to choose to install Sigil with no admin privileges ("Only for Me"). The default is still to install for "Anyone on this Computer." More to come RE the C/C++ runtime installation. But suffice it to say there will be options. Including not to check for, or install the runtime at all). To those who compile Sigil for Windows themselves, please note that t...

Source of 'timestamp' Data in "Device" 'Date' Column

Hello, Using Calibre version 4.15 to export book files and metadata to 'device' always results in the device date column showing '31 Dec 1970'. Calibre always shows the time the book was first loaded into the calibre library. The clock time on the device and computer are correct and synchronized with NTP. So the question I have is where is the timestamp data shown in the 'Date' column of the 'device view coming from the clock on the computer Calibre is installed or the clock on the device? B...

The sexy medical researcher in this bestselling 1991 romance novel was based on Anthony Fauci

Journalist and novelist Sally Quinn's bestselling 1991 novel of romance and intrigue, Happy Endings, is about fictional presidential widow Sadie Grey who falls for a sexy medical researcher working for the National Institutes of Health on a new AIDS treatment. Yes, the alluring government scientist with the "low, melodious, sexy, almost hypnotic” voice, as Quinn described the character, is none other than Dr. Anthony Fauci. From Benjamin Wofford's article in Washingtonian: Part searing ...

The best 250 adventure novels of the 20th century

My friend Joshua Glenn is a voracious reader of adventure novels. He's turned me onto tons of great books, and he recently compiled a list of 250 great adventure novels from the 20th century. Many of these books are available on project Gutenberg and other public domain book and audiobook websites. I really appreciate that josh found cover art from early editions of the books, rather than the usually terrible art found on contemporary editions. I want to read them all, starting with Black Magic:...
