Issues with Read status

iPad Version 2.0.4 When I click read and send to a reader app, CC is no longer automatically marking the book as Read in CC. I have to come back to the app after I’m done with the book, hoping that the app hasn’t reset and I have to hunt for the book again since it sends me back to the top of the list, and manually select Yes, under the have you read this book prompt. Older versions did this automatically. Also, the book list in neither list or grid displays anything when I manually select no ...

Terrific perspective and advice from Simon Sinek

POTD: Blackhawk Door Gunner with the M240H Machine Gun

Photo Of The Day is a bit unusual today as we’re looking at a Blackhawk Door Gunner on the ground. The photos are from the 12:th Combat Aviation Brigade and the location is the Grafenwoher Training Area in Bavaria, Germany. I guess it is a lot cheaper to do any zeroing and basic training on the ground. New Kobo Mini (sealed retail) with OEM SleepCover

These have been sold on Shop Goodwill in the past. This one is London, ONT, Canada, so the shipping should be cheaper for Canadian bidders (about $20 if shipped to Idaho). It's an auction and there's six days left. Just thought if someone was looking for a new Kobo Mini they might want to know about this one. I have no idea how well the battery lasted during its long storage. I'm guessing the Mini won't go cheap. https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/92909522

Ubuntu Server 18.04 can't seem to change metadata.db location

Hello, I am using Calibre to warehouse my ebooks on Ubuntu Server 18.04. I am not using Calibre Content Server to read via the web as I am using Calibre-Web for that purpose. I've noticed Calibre-Web being quite slow so I dug around a bit and realized Calibre creates the metadata.db database in the same location as the library. However, my library is on a NAS and I don't want the metadata.db to co-locate as I'd prefer it be local to Calibre. I've tried all sorts of methods to set the environmen...

“Operation Fast and Furious suspect Uriel Patino bought 19 of the weapons pictured one to two weeks earlier.” — Funny how Rolling Stone doesn't even find gunwalking worth mentioning. (DOJ OIG Report 19 Sep 2012) U.S.A. – -(Ammoland.com)- “Selling weapons south of the border is big business — and America’s loose gun laws are also devastating for Mexico,” Seth Harp declares in a Rolling Stone hit piece on the right to keep and bear arms. Vortex Spitfire 3x Prism Optic – Review

Vortex Spitfire 3x Prism Optic U.S.A. –-(Ammoland.com)- Vortex has been producing a wide variety of optics, primarily centered around two camps.  The low-cost, high volume buyer, and the discerning shooter willing to shell out thousands of dollars for one of their HD series.  This has left some in the middle feeling underrepresented, but the sheer volume of sales Vortex commands each quarter shows they're doing something right.  This is my final individual optic review that builds towards the...

Here we are again, another “not a firearm”, in the form of a tomahawk/axe/hatchet. Arsons, forgeries & poker: how Johnny Jenkins blazed a trail through antiquarian bookselling

In the latest AbeBooks podcast, we interview bookseller and author Michael Vinson about his new book, which describes the life and misadventures of Texas rare book dealer Johnny Jenkins during the 1970s and 1980s. Surrounded by gambling debts and with the authorities breathing down his neck over two suspicious fires, Jenkins was found dead in a river in 1989 from a gunshot wound to the head. Since When are American’s Rights Not “Allowed”!? ~ VIDEO

Opinion Since When are American's Rights Not “Allowed”!? ~ VIDEO USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- In recent weeks, American adults have been subjected to the word “allowed” at levels they’ve not seen since elementary school. America’s gun owners have had this word thrown at them for decades, and many have, unfortunately, gotten used to it. Some of us have always bristled at the cavalier way this word has been bandied about in reference to our fundamental rights. Now more Americans are discovering tha...

PRS-650 New epub makes ereader reboot when selected

Hi, I have a sony PRS 650. I recently purchased a book from Kobo, downloaded it as usual and loaded it into calibre with all my other books. When I sent it to my sony and tried reading it, everytime I tried, it rebooted the sony. No problem reading it in the calibre reader. In the past I have had the occasional problem with my reader with epubs where the blocks of .xhtml text are too large for it to handle. You get it seizing up when reading after a few pages. The solution for that has be...

3 Lessons From Homer’s Odyssey

My favorite Homeric epic is the Odyssey . I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve read it. While the Odysse y is certainly a great adventure story, that’s not why I keep returning to the text. I re-read the Odyssey because Odysseus is such a relatable character. Unlike Achilles, the protagonist of Homer’s other great Greek epic, who’s blessed with god-like strength and skill, and focused on the singular purpose of martial glory, Odysseus is entirely mortal and faced with complex ...
