Daily Prime - Tiny Titans Optimus Prime Whole Lotta Little Going On

When you get down to it, there are probably more little things to collect than big ones. Nothing beats, a big heavy piece on the shelf. But when a lot of the fun of collecting is in finding the bits and pieces we really want, the little guys can offer a lot of bounty hunting goodness. While Hasbro's Tiny Titans make for some good game with a handful of non-transforming PVCs we rarely see in America.

TFB Review: Alien Gear PPK Shoulder Holster – Larping Uncharted Or 007

Shoulder holsters ripe for debate. They have quite a bit of negatives with just a few positives which we will go into later. I got the opportunity to review a holster of my choosing from Alien Gear and I decided to keep an open mind while satisfying a bit of nerdy curiosity. I wanted a […] Read More … The post TFB Review: Alien Gear PPK Shoulder Holster – Larping Uncharted Or 007 appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

The Acorn Method: How Companies Get Growing Again, by Henrik Werdelin

When I first met Henrik Werdelin he was a founding partner of Prehype, a "collective of entrepreneurial people who help each other build new ventures." My employer at that time had an agreement with Prehype to help us ideate and develop a new strategy for the organization's future. I always came away from those meetings with Henrik feeling both inspired and challenged; he forced us to look at our business in a completely new way. When I learned that Henrik recently published a book called The Ac...

ereader for geeky user

I'm getting tired of reading on my Android phone, particularly at night and I want an eInk screen that's not backlit. I prefer the Android readers I use most to what I see of the readers on Kindles and Kobo devices, though I have minimal experience with the latter. I want customizability and flexible line spacing options at the very minimum. I mostly read epub books that are DRM free, so I don't want or need the Amazon stuff, or even that of the other vendors. Being able to read my books that ar...

Kobo H2O battery drain?

Hi, I decided to try to charge my battery when it's at around 20% and charge it until it's around 80%. I've read that it's best for a li-ion battery to do it this way, so it could theoretically last up to 1,500 cycles. I've noticed something strange when doing this (I only did it twice so far). I charge it to about 80%, then get it off the USB plug, and let there on sleep. A couple of hours later, when going back to read, last time I saw battery back to 64% (16% lost with no reason) and today ...

Literary Moonfleet by John Meade Falkner

'Moonfleet begins as a mystery and an adventure story, a tale of smuggling set among the cliffs, caves, and downs of Dorset. What will be the outcome of the conflict between smugglers and revenue men? How can the hero, John Trenchard, discover the secret of Colonel John Mohune's treasure? As the book progresses these two interwoven themes resolve themselves into a third and richer one, with the friendship and suffering of both John Trenchard and the craggy, taciturn Elzevir Block. Falkner's fee...

Why Do Covers Disappear When I Upload Books From Kindle To Calibre And Back Again

So I decided to upload books from my Kindle to put into my Calibre because I realized there were some edits I have to make to the titles. I then put them back in the Kindle. But then I noticed that this time the ebooks have no covers. I am not the only one struggling with this right? And if so any solutions?

Idea: Swap Title/Author hotkey.

I find that after adding books to Calibre, I often need to do a "Swap Title and Author." Once in the "Edit metadata" form, it's possible to use Alt+Down. It would excellent if this could be triggered from the main Library window. (I mean without needing to open the 'Edit metadata' dialog.) Or maybe this is possible and I missed it(?). -steve

.awz3 eBook file - Can't change the cover

I've been using Calibre for years with two plugins that allow me to remove the DRM from a downloaded .awz3 eBook as it loads into Calibre. I then side load into a Kindle Paperwhite using Calibre. Works great and thanks for Calibre! Sometimes the cover doesn't appear correct when it comes into Calibre. I then choose to edit that eBook's Metadata individually and select "download cover". I get 2-3 covers and choose one, then click OK, OK and go back to Calibre. To get the cover to "install" I cli...

Obtaining books directly on a Tolino

This is for sources other than the store Tolino associates with out of the box. I recall RCentros has reported on various stores he was able to buy from directly but I couldn't remember which thread that was in and thought it would be good to have a dedicated thread where we report sources that work (or don't work!) on Tolinos.
