Ready positions are important. These are the positions we can immediately fight from. The gun is readily accessible AND we are able to cover an angle of exposure. An angle of exposure is an angle from which a threat could present itself. This could be from behind a couch, an open doorway, etc. Ready positions […] Read More … The post Rifle Sling Positions: Low Ready, Retention and High Ready appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

Create table of contents with CSS tags

I found the nicely-documented Auto-create a table of contents function, but that requires the chapter headings be simple tags. I've got a book where the chapter headings look like this: Code:                         Chapter 2                     Is there a way to adapt the example function to work in this instance?

Aura H2O2 Overdrive issue with 4.21.15015

I'm starting a new thread because it seems this post got lost in the other discussions about the new firmware, 4.21.15015 I don't know if this is a bug or a "feature", but when I select Overdrive in the new firmware, I cannot browse the entire catalog, only the displayed selections "Harry Potter", "what's new for kids" "Thrill Ride" etc. Also, within those categories is a "Filter" button with a dropdown mun offering "Featured" and "All books", but I am unable to activate the "more books" option...

Let It Be Revisited

It's hard to believe that the Beatles final album, Let It Be, was released 50 years ago. The album came out on May 8 and the documentary of the same name was released a week later in theaters in the US and two weeks later in the UK.  The story of the album is well known: Paul McCartney, at this point the de facto band leader, wanted to create a "back to basics" album, originally known as Get Back. Instead of the psychedelic studio production wizardry of Sergeant Pepper's, or the tension-...

Hunker Down but Let your Mind Wander

The bird box, rescued from a fallen tree that was cut up this week. Hung it here because there was a nail.  Digitally doodled a circle of green around the hole, just to see before I paint it on.  A circle of Green came to mind.  A circle of green. Washed. Dried in the sun. Stacked, topped with an apple. Because. Wine in a green bottle.  Then, ok. I had snatched this back from the shop the other day. Because I kept liking it so much. Especially for the circle that imperfection revealed. Maybe o...

I stumbled upon this forum with a design/conversion question, and thought I would join. I am a graphic designer and do a fair amount of conversions to ePub and Mobi for my clients. I also love to read ebooks—it's such a handy way to always have a book to read! I use the Kindle app on my phone and also have a Kindle Fire, but I also test using iBooks on my Mac. I thought it would be beneficial to learn more about e-reader issues through this forum, and to learn more about this evolving technology...

Loss of metadata after import

Hello, I have a question that I have not been able to find an answer to perusing the threads. So I have long been committed to solid, tangible paper books but I am now traveling a lot for work and have decided to invest in an e-reader. At the same time I am trying to shift to a lifestyle that does not support Amazon (for obvious reasons). Therefore I ultimately opted to get a Kobo. That being said, I do have a fair number of Kindle ebooks already that I read on the app via my phone. I wou...

Suicides not Reduced by Laws Restricting Gun Owners

Suicide Mental Illness U.S.A. –-(Ammoland.com)- It is only the last decade or two when those who want a disarmed population in the West have started to stress “suicide” as a reason for disarming the population.  The early pushes for population disarmament were predicated on the excuse of reducing violent crime, particularly homicides. The actual motivation had nothing to do with crime. The original motivation was to reduce armed rivals. In New York, to reduce armed resistance to organized cri...

Life of the Garden

So much life happens in the garden. Right now the birds are singing, the bees are buzzing, and newly returned (human) visitors are snapping pictures or leaning in for a closer look at a flower. Our theme this year is “Life in the Garden” and I cannot think of a more fitting one considering our current circumstances. With so many still staying home more often than not, the garden calls to us. We want to get our hands dirty, spend time outdoors, and create something beautiful. Gail, Joe, and I hav...

Using CC on iOS 13.4.1

I'm completely new to CC. I downloaded it to my iPhone running iOS 13.4.1 and successfully connected to my Calibre Library in OneDrive. I even successfully downloaded a book in CC. But when I try to Send To Kindle to open in the Kindle for iOS app, I get an error message about an incompatible format (my books are DRM-free .azw3 files in my Calibre Library). I'm assuming that the Send To Kindle feature will only send .mobi files?
