Stop Calibre from changing Titles

My main use for Calibre is to convert personal .rtf files so that I can read them on my Kindle. I have hundreds rtf files and they all use space-hyphen-space sequences and commas in their filenames. There is no author name or series name or anything else embedded in the .rtf filename: nothing except the full title. I'd like to instruct Calibre to keep the full filename as the full title--hyphens and spaces and all--without making any changes to it whatsoever (other than stripping away the ".rt...

Amazon, Alexa and podcasting

When the Spotify-Joe Rogan news hit last week I wondered again about Amazon's role in podcasting. Sure, you can ask your Alexa device to play the latest edition of just about any podcast but is Amazon only looking to act as a pass-through agent, serving up streams from Apple? If the latest rumors are any indication, the answer is no. It appears Amazon doesn't want to simply enter the podcast market...they want to totally disrupt it. The local content angle may seem somewhat narrow at first but t...

Windows openeing too large, problems resizing

I'm having issues with some windows opening way, way, way too large for my screen. I know, just resize the window dummy, you're thinking, but I'm not able to. When I try to use the mouse to drag the window shorter (top/bottom) the whole window just zooms off the the bottom of the screen at about a million miles an hour, and does not get any smaller. I have to use ALT+Spacebar and 'Move' to get it back with the arrow keys. Using ALT+Spacebar and 'Size' does not resize the window either - if I t...

Minor Crash Issue Using Calibre Reader

Hi, I've been consistantly seeing an appcrash for calibre-parallel.exe in Windows Reliability History whenever I close out an ePub while using the Calibre Reader over the past several versions of Calibre 4 (I'm on 4.16 as of now). This is no big deal since it's not doing any harm, and the app itself isn't crashing, but I was still curious if anyone happens to know what could be going on or provide some guidance. Thannks in advance!

Changes to the viewer

Hello, If I can humbly ask, what happened to the sidebar that used to be in the epub viewer. Having the forward and back buttons as well as the text size buttons and the TOC available all the time were extremely useful and I have come to rely on them. Today I used the new version of the viewer for the first time and, to my suprise the entire sidebar was gone. Perhaps there is some way to get it to show that I don't know about. If so, please tell me how to do it. If not, please restore the sideb...

About transparency

Hey there, until now I would have used PNG for icons with transparent backgrounds (with all those fancy color schemes, a white background looks awful). But now I see a really poor rendering of PNGs on ADE, so I thought to use SVGs (but they aren't allowed by Amazon's lastest format). Ang GIFs really look awful, especially in curves. :book2:Does anyone have a suggestion on what to do about it?

‘Rodham’ author Curtis Sittenfeld reveals the secrets of her fictional Hillary Clinton

The premise of “Rodham,” Curtis Sittenfeld’s new novel, is remarkably simple: What if Hillary Rodham never married Bill Clinton. In the book, Sittenfeld explores an array of topics as complex as the real Hillary. From its unique, counterfactual perspective, Rodham reexamines the themes behind many Clinton-related conversations over the past decades, everything from personal and political sexual dynamics to media coverage of women in politics. The book includes a head-spinning mix of real events ...

Boox Max2 stylus too sensitive

Hello, I have Max2 since late 2017 and used it as e-reader mostly. Now I'm trying to make some sketches with original stylus and Note app. However the stylus is way too sensitive to the extent that it writes even while being 5mm above the screen in the air. Handwriting appears quite messy because of this issue. Recorded a video of it https://youtu.be/ujM5rkoxke4 Is it an issue with my device? Here is someone's video record without such thing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_9TJsDp7Wo Is the...

Container Herb Garden + Hanging Planter Sets

I was inspired by the balconies of Europe to plant my own mini herb garden on the tiny stoop outside my studio. It started with a little basil and rosemary then led to oregano, mint, and thyme and every time I brush past it as I leave or enter I catch the scent of herbs growing happily in their containers. We’re all cooking more at home these days so having fresh herbs on hand makes for tastier meals! Today I made myself a simple omelette with tomato, asiago cheese, and fresh herbs, it was delic...

How to Identify Your Hydrangea

Naming a favorite flower on this gloriously beautiful planet can be a tall order but it is a challenge I can meet in an instant. My absolute favorite flower is the hydrangea. Of course a hydrangea flower can look very different depending on the type of plant in question. There are actually six different types of hydrangea grown here in the USA. The flowers range from cone shaped panicles, to mopheads, to lacecaps. The color varieties are also vast. You can easily spot the different types by the ...

Keeping Warm With The 5.11 Aggressor Parka – Review

Keeping Warm With The 5.11 Aggressor Parka U.S.A. –-(Ammoland.com)-This winter was an interesting time to be a gun owner and 2A advocate in Virginia. The liberal majority in the state legislature led by Bloomberg’s pawn, Governor Ralph “Black Face” Northam, decided to enact Draconian gun laws across the Commonwealth. The people of Virginia stood up for their rights and rallied through the cold winter weather against tyrannical gun laws. Being a journalist and a gun owner, meant I had to atten...

Three Colors of Beast Wars Transmetal Megatron - Wild Wednesday

Did you know there were three (3) different color variants for the Transmetals Megatron figure? It is not officially known why, but the fandom surmises this was a running change over the years of manufacture. As shown, there were supposedly produced in the following order of Purple, Blue, and Pink which was the rarest variant made.

CSS Processing order

I see that KoReader can have user created styles (in /styletweaks) . When reading a book there may also be other stylesheets that will influence presentation. Such as, say, one called "book.css" within an EPUB, (the so-called "embedded style"). Then there is the inbuilt "epub.css". I'm trying to understand in what order the various css stylesheets will be processed. Understanding this would explain why I was getting indented paragraphs on the first line of a chapter when I wasn't expecting...

How to Edit Chapters to Look Pretty in Epub Readers?

I want to keep my naming scheme because I have hundreds of chapters and the epub when I switch to a different chapter just gives the xhtml file name. Is there a way to make it not do that or show something that isn't 60-Revelations-04.xhtml because that doesn't look great. I can try messing with some index stuff bit idk.

Kindle (10th generation) on sale for $59.99 USD.

We have had reports that storage has been bumped up to 8GB, but maybe this sale is of older stock that has the 4GB as listed in product specifications. White model is out of stock until July 7, perhaps that means it has the newer configuration? Seems we can only speculate.
