I Have An Ebook That Constantly Refreshes Itself And It's Annoying

I don't usually go to this site a lot, forgive me if this is the wrong forum. I have an ebook that for some reason constantly refreshes to the point everything goes back to 0% every time I plug my Kindle out of my laptop. Like every time, this one ebook for some reason disappears, then reappears as if it was a new ebook. It's frustrating because not only do I lose progress but since Kindle ebooks tend to lose their cover now I lose the cover. Every time I try to get the cover back I never could...

How to handle Special Editions in series?

Some of my series of books, usually children's books, have "special editions" (or sometimes even "super specials" :chinscratch:). I've been trying to figure out how to handle these in Calibre. Right now I just have them as a separate series. I'm not sure if I like this. I thought about using the decimal points (e.g. 4.5) to put them into the order they appeared in the main series but I'm not quite sure about that and it gets messy when mixed in with omnibuses. Any other suggestions? :thanks:

TFB TUTORIAL: How To Fingerprint Yourself For NFA Applications

Due to the fingerprint requirement for National Firearms Act (NFA) applications, some people have sought the services of law enforcement, while others look to do it for themselves.  Just to clarify, you can fingerprint yourself when applying to the ATF to make a Short Barreled Rifle or Shotgun (SBR/SBS) and for suppressors.  When using your […] Read More … The post TFB TUTORIAL: How To Fingerprint Yourself For NFA Applications appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

Since I have two little ones (11 years old and 7 years old), one of the things I am starting to prepare our home for is the gift giving and receiving. I know gifts are not the reason for the season, but it i...

How do I put a book back on my device?

I deleted a non-sideloaded book using Calibre. Apparently that was a bad idea because now I can't figure out how to download it again (aside from sideloading my non-DRMed backup). It doesn't appear on the Kobo itself. I can see it in the "My Books" section of the Kobo desktop software but when I switch over to eReader it doesn't appear in there. I checked and the book isn't in the archive. Any suggestions?

US Libraries for those outside the US

This is a theme which recurs from time to time. There have been a few US libraries offering paid cards to non-residents of the US. These cards are often attractive propositions to overseas residents, and presumably worthwhile to the libraries concerned. It is my sad duty to report that effective June 2020 Fairfax County Public Library "is no longer able to continue supporting non-resident accounts outside of the United States." I'm wondering if some of the few other US libraries which were o...

epub2pdf, line-spacing and footnotes

hi, I want to convert epub2pdf with calibre and I set line-spacing to 170% which fits perfectly to the main content. But this setting applies to footnotes as well and they are printed partially on the next page which doubles pages count. Is there a possibility to have a different line-spacing for footnotes. Many thx, Burkhard from Germany:help:

What fields are relevant for the 'Download metadata' feature?

When opening 'Edit metadata', you can click 'Download metadata'. For as far I understand (and could find in explanations), that function will look at the fields 'Title' and 'Author(s)' to find matches. But doing some tests, it looks like the results also depend on what is in the field 'Ids'. So my question is: What fields in that panel are relevant for the 'download metadata' feature? So is it: 'Title', 'Author' and 'Ids', or do the other fields such as 'Publisher' and 'Language' also have an in...

Sometimes uncommon calibers are easier to find. IMG Jim Grant U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- I was in a local gun shop the other day, and while I was looking to see if anything odd or unique piqued my interest, one customer after another came in asking for ammunition that of course, was not there on the shelf, or any shelf at any gun shop locally for that matter. They all plead their case, one or two of them said that they only had a few rounds for each of their particular guns and with hunting seaso...

Opinion Bang or Bong in New Jersey, Now the Decision is Yours?: Election 2020, img iStock-823603532 New Jersey – -(AmmoLand.com)- The people of New Jersey have spoken, a ballot initiative was voted on making weed a “right”, that is a state constitutional amendment was made, making Marijuana legal in the green Garden State. Still on the Razor's Edge

How to grow a lemon tree from seed The lemon tree is an iconic plant in many parts of the mediterranean. It is a small, evergreen tree with fragrant blooms, but of course it most noted for its tangy, yellow fruits. The history of the lemon is a little hazy but the first cultivated varieties are believed to have been produced from wild plants originating from northeast India, northern Burma, and China. In fact India and China account for a third of the worlds commercial lemon production. ...
