Mystery and Crime Connington, J. J.: The Counsellor (1939); v1; 7 Nov 2020

Not a Clinton Driffield mystery; a one-off involving a radio "counsellor" who gets drawn into the mystery of a disappearing young woman, forged banknotes, and a very odd corporate takeover. And yes, it is a murder mystery; there is a body. Attached Thumbnails   Attached Files The Counsellor - J. J. Connington.epub (381.9 KB)

Friday Night Lights: Nocorium NVG Vinyl Wraps

For some reason 99% of night vision devices are like cameras, they mostly come in black. I don’t understand why housing manufacturers default to black. It is not exactly “tactical” and does not hide well in the day or even at night. In some cases, some NVG housings look weird when you look at them […] Read More … The post Friday Night Lights: Nocorium NVG Vinyl Wraps appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

A Post I Did Not Want to Make

My father, age 86, has been a Democrat for much of the latter part of his life.  He was not a fan of Donald Trump, but we never really had a political discussion.  I used to argue with my mother (who was of similar political bent) but dad stayed out of it.He sent me a link tonight, no comment, to this piece:  We Were Wrong About America.  Give that a read before you click on the break. In keeping with my recent post Don't #WalkAway, I responded.  This is that response:" We thought we would be ...

How to sync from device back to calibre?

'Send to device' is pretty convenient, and I can also see "In Library" column from the Device view. I wonder if is there a quick way to sync book in device back to the corresponding book in calibre? After read, new annots are saved in pdf on device, I want to sync this new books back to calibre. Now I find add to library(from the Device view) will create a new book. Even if "In Library" column value is true. I found this Sync back to Calibre. Do we have a buit-in function now?

Device View: Why do covers sometimes appear in the wrong colours?

In Calibre, sometimes viewing books in the details pane of the device view show their covers with what looks like reversed RGB values. It happens on both sideloaded and non-sideloaded books, but not all of them. Copying the covers to a test book retain the wrong colours. Since my device is eInk I'm not sure if the wrong colours are retained there. Is this supposed to happen?

Problem sending email to my Kindle account

Hello everybody, I am getting some problems to send ebooks from my Calibre library to the mail of my Kindle account. On my Amazon account, I added the sending mail in the list of approved emails to send ebooks. When I send a book attached directly from that email, the book is being received on my kindle. Yet, when I try to send it via Calibre, there is a time-out. The sending and receiving emails on Calibre both seem good. Also, in the preferences, when I try to make the test of the mailing...

15 (Great) Questions for Architect Russell Groves

For architect Russell Groves of Groves & Co., good design is deceptively simple: clean and understated on the surface, rigorously planned and engineered underneath. He’s worked this equation for some major fashion and retail clients (Tiffany, Coach, Ralph Lauren) as well as in private homes, including his own modest getaway in East Hampton, New York. We asked Groves to share some insights: Remodelista: You’re known for kitchens that look appealingly basic but are highly refined. How do you manag...

Biggest Loser: Establishment Media; Can It Ever Be Trusted Again?

Fake News Biased Media Gun Banners iStock-807078422 U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- The mainstream “establishment” media—which has rarely been sympathetic to gun owners or kind to the Second Amendment—lost any semblance of credibility with conservatives and especially gun owners with its coverage of the presidential election, according to social media reactions to a question posed 36 hours after the polls closed Nov. 3. That loss is likely permanent. Heading into the weekend, media integrity seemed ...

Inbani Explores the Perfection of the Arc

We all could use some balance these days, not to mention a good, hot bath. Just so, Inbani’s Arc Collection is an exploration of symmetry, with an elegant collection of circular and oval tubs. Neoclassical art and architecture is based on the notion that the arc of a circle is a shape that pacifies and pleases—the idea and the form are artfully captured in the collection’s harmonious silhouettes. The Circular Arc is stunning and spacious—a luxurious tub that easily accommodates...

Suspicious Flash Drive With Votes “Found” In Virginia Congressional Race

Opinion Suspicious Flash Drive With Votes “Found” In Virginia Congressional Race, iStock-wildpixel HENRICO COUNTY, VA –-(Ammoland.com)- When I checked the election results for Virginia late on Wednesday, I marveled at how pro-gun candidates picked up seats in the House of Representatives. This total included the very pro-gun Republican Nick Freitas from Virginia’s 7th congressional district. Even though officials didn’t call the election at that point, Freitas was on the verge of unseating h...

DX(G) Please help me SSH into my Kindle to save it!

Hello! I upgraded the firmware on my Kindle DX a few years back when Amazon put out that notice that if you didn't update it, you'd no longer be able to connect to the Kindle store. So I updated it to 2.5.8 and left it in my locker at work for quite some time. I fired it up last week and noticed I could no longer connect it properly to the internet. I tried factory restoring and all that and it did nothing. This is the Kindle DX (G) that has free 3G (no wi-fi). Anyway, I could connect to the ...

5.42

Do is have to disable SIP (not even sure what this is) and is this essential for 5.42 to work, also can i go from 4.23 straight to 5.42 or do i have to install the versions in between first. i have opened terminal and pasted this command (/Applications/calibre.app/Contents/MacOS/calibre) and i get no such file so again very confused as not sure what this means. It used to be so easy to just download the next version and carry on, this is all to way above my computer knowledge.

Trevor Noah Tweet Makes Mass Death ‘Joke’ Many Gun Prohibitionists Agree With

Things are different in America. Colorful Holiday Prints + Screensavers

I’ve been doodling on my iPad a lot lately and came up with some colorful and whimsical drawings of trees and snowflakes, so I made them into printable art and screensavers to display and also share with you. I created this ‘Making Spirits Bright’ art and printed it poster size at Walgreens, then framed it for a display in my studio. The frame is one of those inexpensive plastic 24×36” poster frames from Michaels that I painted gold. I’ll be adding some greenery later this month. The art print s...

Lessons Learned From the 2020 Election

President Donald Trump warned during his acceptance speech that the Second Amendment is in jeopardy in this fall's elections. (Screen snip, YouTube, C-SPAN) United States – -(AmmoLand.com)- As the dust fades from this election, some states are too close to call, and it looks like there will be litigation in those states. But it is not too late to see what Second Amendment supporters can learn from the results that are available, with more lessons to come from the litigated election contests. ...
