2020 has been a tornado of a year and as if we haven’t had enough chaos already, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are nearly at our doorstep. Stores all around the country are making announcements that they will in fact be open despite fears surrounding COVID-19. Despite this, you won’t find me crawling over hordes […] Read More … The post COVIDEALS: Black(Death) Friday Through Cyber(pocalypse) Monday 11/30 appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

Overdrive Weirdness

Of late I've been viewing lots of books from the Toronto Public Library to my Libra using the direct Kobo integration. I've noticed on many occasions that while initially a sync downloads the new book in "Overdrive" format, subsequent syncs will eventually download the Overdrive a second time and a copy in "Kobo Preview" form, and if course resetting my reading location in the book. Anyone else seeing this?

Updated Registration and Login page

Hello, I have 2 suggestions, both of them pretty standard and something I find unusual to not already be implemented... Include password requirements in the registration page I just signed up for an account and registered using a typical password; Long and complicated with plenty of symbols and random characters. Wheelgun Wednesday: Suppressed Revolver? Nagant M1895 Adventures

This week on Wheelgun Wednesday we discuss a rather perplexing and often misunderstood revolver in the Nagant M1895. Being the wheelgun addict that I am, when presented with the opportunity to buy one of these discontinued and old revolvers I jumped at the chance without seeing it. The equivalent would be like walking into your […] Read More … The post Wheelgun Wednesday: Suppressed Revolver? Nagant M1895 Adventures appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

POTD: Toni Systems’ AR15 Aiming System

Is this kind of aiming system for the AR15 like putting Pineapple on a pizza? With over 650 comments on their Facebook post, Toni Systems sure got a lot of feedback to work with. This is the topic for TFB’s rather unusual Photo Of The Day, and we look forward to any feedback our readers can give […] Read More … The post POTD: Toni Systems’ AR15 Aiming System appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

The beggar and the guru

Connecting with 64-bit vs 32-bit Windows

I downgraded to Calibre 4.23 64-bit on Windows 10 in order to be able to use the DRM plugin. I'm using CC 5.4.4.19 (410) with Android 11 on both my phone and tablet. I don't recall, unfortunately whether my original Calibre 5.5 was 64-bit or 32-bit. While there was no problem with connecting to Content Server or Wireless with Windows Calibre, I could not connect with CC on either of my devices. The server could not be detected, even though it was running. Troubleshooting: 1. I made sure that...

How to transfer pdf and epub annotations from Max2 to MaxLumi?

I'm trying to transfer my books from my Max2 to my MaxLumi without loosing my annotations, and so far it's not working. I looked through the manual for info on this, but didn't find any. What I've tried is to export the annotations on the Max2, and then copy the resulting .txt file with the annotations onto the Lumi. But when I open the file on the Lumi the annotations are not showing up. I've tried putting them in the same folder as the book file (the 'Books' folder), as well as putting them in...

Paola Lenti Gets Twiggy with It

Paola Lenti announces an innovative textile duo: Twiggy, a chemical-free yarn woven into ropes and knit structures, and Diade, a naturally waterproof material that’s ideal for the outdoors. What Else Is At Stake In The Georgia Runoffs?

Kelly Loeffler For U.S. Senate Georgia – -(AmmoLand.com)- Whether or not President Trump’s legal challenges succeed, the Georgia runoffs are critical for Second Amendment supporters. In addition to what might or might not be passed into law, there are a number of other things on the ballot in these races. Second Amendment supporters need to pull both David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler over the line because a 50-50 Senate under President Trump would still be bad news. Why would that 50-50 Senate ...

Dictionary lookups persisted somewhere?

Hey guys, I'm still in the warm-up phase with Kobo. Back in the Kindle days I've built a primitive Flash-Card feed from my kindle dictionary lookup history: https://github.com/ivy-rew/kindle-voca To start with, one of my most loved features of the kindle was stored in it's sqlite db. Reading books in foreign language automatically created a history of the words that I have looked up in a dictionary ... so obviously I didn't know these words and should learn them somewhen :bulb2: Now I've tri...

Saved Search window off top of screen?

On Windows 10, Calibre 4.23, while editing a book, my Saved Searches dialog has somehow gone off the top of the screen: the title bar is not visible, and I cannot find any way to either move it or close it. I've tried maximising the main editor window, restoring it, closing and reopening the editor, pressing Ctrl-F4, Ctrl-X, cascading all windows, tiling all windows... nothing works. Can anyone suggest how I can fix this?

Harlan Ellison's The Last Dangerous Visions may finally be published...

J Michael Straczynski is bound and determined to get The Last Dangerous Visions published, finally. From The Guardian: Quote: It is the great white whale of science fiction: an anthology of stories by some of the genre’s greatest names, collected in the early 1970s by Harlan Ellison yet mysteriously never published. But almost 50 years after it was first announced, The Last Dangerous Visions is finally set to see the light of day. But: ...

Take a gander at all the great books Drawn and Quarterly published this year
