‘Stay Safe’ Just Ain’t Possible Round Here.

I cannot be left with my thoughts these last few days. I emerge from the experience in a ratty mood that doesn’t benefit anyone, least of all myself. Plus I take it a step further, unleashing self-recrimination for indulging in the mood in the first place. There’s a trigger to all this fear and [self] loathing in Lovettsville.  It’s the weather. I am cold. And dammit I hate being cold. I freaking hate it. I feel like this is happening to my fingers. Autumn unofficially left the building on M...

Any ETA On A New Kobo Device?

Just curious. I'm planning on getting a Libra H2O soon as it's the closest to what I want, but have no idea what Kobo's release cycle is like, so just want to make sure I don't buy it only for something better to get released for the holidays.

Having Conversion Issue from epub to PDF/DOCX

I am having some issues with conversion with a book, hasn't happened in a while. all my plugins are current. I am not sure if it's DRM issue; previous DRM books Calibre able to remove. I am getting follow error message, again not sure why this is suddenly happening. Also, another question, on some conversion in the past, after the book was converted, everything was off in the book. Is there reason for that? thanks Jeff Convert book 1 of 1 (Mango and Peppercorns) Failed to initialize plugi...

Any Way to Subdivide the Main Directory?

My library has quite a few books. I am now hitting file system limits on the main [Calibre] directory that are causing various instabilities that my intuition (and support) tells me is going to end in disaster if I continue. Is there some easy way to subdivide the directory by adding another level such as [Calibre\A Authors] [Calibre\B Authors] etc. ? I would like to keep everything within a single view if that's possible. Otherwise I am going to have to figure out a way to divide it manuall...

Super Simple & Inexpensive Christmas Wrap Organization

The following is a guest post about super simple & inexpensive Christmas wrap organization from regular contributor, Kristin at The Gold Project .  Over the years, I have tried so many different organization systems for my gift wrapping rolls of paper. Background Checks from Gun Sales Break Records for November 2020

Do ‘universal background checks' really work to reduce gun-related crime? (Dave Workman) U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- November of 2020 continued the trend of record-breaking gun sales and record-breaking National Instant background Check System (NICS) checks. The two are not the same. About half of background checks in recent years are done for other purposes, such as gun permits and gun permit rechecks. Permit and permit rechecks have slowed somewhat in relation to gun sales in 2020, probably du...

Lumiere Turns 30!

It’s been 30 years since Rodolfo Dordoni and Foscarini collaborated on Lumiere, a lovely table lamp whose synthesis of elegance and subtlety has made it a living icon. The designer and manufacturer are paying tribute with Lumiere 30, an updating that introduces dual incarnations of the lamp, both of which exemplify classic glass blowing techniques that create decorative elements on the diffuser’s exterior. For Bulles (loosely translated as “bubbles”) the glass was blown into ...

'and' converting to '&'

I'm adding game manuals to my Calibre library. I usually put the developer's name as the author. Developer of a few DOS games I have has an ampersand in the title. I tried changing that to 'and,' but Calibre changed it back to an ampersand and split the authors. Is there a way to not have it convert it?

ACSM issues

Hi. New user here. I'm posting here because this is a recent thread (quick search for DRM, ePUB, MOBI etc showed mostly several-years-old threads). I'm also a new Kindle user, so I hope this post won't cause *too* much eye-rolling. I learned to check out books from libraries using OverDrive- Kindle books only. Now I'm looking to branch out to checking "ePUB" books. I found and followed the steps here: https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-...-amazon-kindle i.e. - downloaded calibre - set up @kind...

Convert fixed-width to reflowable EPUB?

Page numbers in Epub->PDF conversion

I THINK I can see a way around this that is mostly outside Calibre, but given that I see some pretty slick stuff in Calibre conversion documents, I wonder if I'm just missing something. Surely people handle this situation all the time. If it's already documented or discussed somewhere, just point me at it. Here's the problem: Page numbers for "front matter" (title page, copyright, preface, etc.) should be lower case Roman numerals (i, ii, iii, etc.) beginning with i. Page numbers for the bod...
