Harvard Classic Volume 8

I just took an interest in the Harvard Classics series, and the ones here are by far the best versions to download. While I have so far downloaded volumes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. 6, 7, 9 and 10 with no problems, the download link for volume 8 appears to be missing. Or am I missing something?

Franklin Armory’s BFS III 22-C1: Binary Trigger for the Ruger 10/22

Franklin Armory BFS III 22-C1 for the Ruger 10/22. U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- Earlier in 2020 I had a chance to shoot a Ruger 10/22 with a Franklin Armory BFS III 22-C1 and had more fun than I ever thought possible with a Ruger 10/22. It was a prototype trigger at the time, but I saw its potential. If you are new to the scene, the BFS III is a binary trigger that has three settings: Safe, semi-auto and binary. The binary setting fires one shot when the trigger is pulled and a second shot on the...

USA Today ‘Interns’ Exhibit Typical Gannett ‘Ethics’

USA Today's Imaginary Chainsaw Gun U.S.A. – -(Ammoland.com)- “USA Today uses left-wing college interns to censor news media and opinion articles they disagree with, working hand in glove with unaccountable social media giants to suppress it,” Senior Editor Christopher Bedford of The Federalist reports. They should fit right in with a paper and a parent company, Gannett, that have a long and documented history of hypocrisy and violations of their own “standards.” “To affect change for the good...

Max Lumi - Is it possible to buy one yet anywhere?

Thanks to this forum I stumbled onto the Onyx range, the Air & Max Lumi, both look super. Honestly I have not been this excited about e-reader offering since I got my iLiad back in 2006 (RIP). Yet, it does not appear to be available for purchase or have I missed something? If it is not for sale any idea on RRP and when it might be released? The website is somewhat unclear on points.

"President-elect Joe Biden expressed skepticism about his powers to implement his agenda by executive action Tuesday in a private virtual meeting with civil rights leaders..."

"...according to a recording reported Thursday by The Intercept. Biden told a group of seven leaders of civil rights organizations that some progressive Democrats are urging executive actions that are 'way beyond the bounds' of a president's legal authority.... In the meeting, Biden said he planned to roll back everything President Donald Trump has done through executive action, rather than with the approval of Congress. He said he would use his powers 'to undo every single damn thing this guy h...

Forma Upgrading firmware

I have reviewed many of the instructions that cover upgrading the firmware on the Kobo Forma and am confused and in need of help. I have a new Forma that says its firmware kernel version is: 4.1.15-00285 The software version is 4.16.13268. I'm using Linux Mint and Calibre. According to the firmware listing , my firmware is out of date. Although 4.1.15 looks incorrect and maybe I am not looking in the correct place for my firmware version. Is there any option to bulk-save cover images?

I'd like to save a bunch of book covers to a folder. The only way I see to do this is to open the details panel and use "save cover to disk" on them all. Is there any hidden feature or plugin that can do this in bulk? :thanks:

Updating calibre-books.lua on Kobo

I deleted books from my Kobo Clara HD, edited them in Calibre and put them back onto the device, however, I still see the deleted books when I search them on KoReader in the Calibre metadata. The file calibre-books.lua seems to contain that information, but it is now several hours old, even though I just finished putting new books on and Calibre transferred the metadata. Simply deleting that file will create a new one, but then, tags and series information are missing that were showing up prope...

Annoy Schumer By Re-Electing Perdue And Loeffler in Georgia

Capture – Charles Schumer, YT, C-SPAN 3-20 The Senate/Georgia – -(AmmoLand.com)- There are many reasons to vote to re-elect Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler. Their solid pro-Second Amendment records are one good reason. Another is to protect the Supreme Court from being packed with anti-Second Amendment extremists. Then there is the hostility that Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock have shown to those who defend our freedoms. But there is one other good reason to vote Perdue and Loeffler ...

MESH by Parasoleil: a New Age in Aluminum Panels

MESH by Parasoleil is an acronym for Modular Engineered Shadowgraphing Patterns, which in layman’s terms might be described as innovative aluminum panels with impressive artistic versatility. The 20 new designs are intricate and artful in themselves, but the real achievement here is the degree of customization, as these can be tooled to incorporate original art or targeted branding while maintaining precisely engineered standards—“for a structurally secure field pattern at an appropriat...

Kindle Lending Library to end Jan 4, 2021

Didn't see a thread on this, so thought I would post it as a piece of news based upon an email I received a few weeks ago. As far as I could tell, it was a little known, little used benefit for Amazon Prime members. Was useful for me in trying out new historical fiction series to save a few bucks here and there. From my understanding of the message, any book taken out during the first few days of January will automatically expire after 60 days; previously, books would never expire, rather that ...

How to Choose a Biography to Read

Biographies are a particularly rich genre of books. By reading them you can learn not only about an individual’s life, but through that personal prism, find an accessible window to the historical period in which they lived. Paradoxically, the more particular something is, the more generally it can be applied, and even if some figure lived a very different and much more epic life than yours, following the contours of their story can grant you plenty of insight into your own. But what do you do w...

How murder hornets kill and why they shouldn’t worry you

Before this awful year comes to an end, I feel that I should dedicate a column to “Murder Hornets,” so here it is. Asian Giant Hornets (Vespa mandarinia) are the world’s largest hornet. They are native to the region spanning from northern India through east Asia. In August 2019, a colony was discovered on Vancouver Island. Shortly after, more hornets were discovered in the far northwest part of Washington state. How were they discovered? A beekeeper found a large pile of decapitated honeybees on...
