What is the best way to go about this? I do have some experience programming and reversing engineering. Like Recovering Calibre preferences from a dead computer?December 18, 2020 at 7:51 PM My laptop died, so I was unable to backup my Calibre library via the export option before switching to a new computer. I have access to my whole library, because it was stored on an external drive, so the books themselves aren't an issue.
I do have access to my laptop's hard drive so I was hoping I could copy the preferences over from the applicable folder, but I haven't figured out how yet. I searched older threads but the methods suggested don't seem to be working for me.

I have just done a backup of my Calibre setup and i see that i have actually two folders:
1. %userprofile%\documents\Calibre, that contains my books and two files: "metadata.db" and "metadata_db_prefs_backup.json"
2. %userprofile%\Calibre Library, that contains only the two files i mentioned before.
What is the use of this last folder? I see the last modification done to the two files in it are from march and november 2020.

On Windows, there's this little feature called a Virtual Hard Disk. Which is.... a disk image. You can mount it, and it works pretty much the same as a physical mounted drive.
They are usable with cloud storage. Some people use it as an additional layer of encryption.
Which makes me wonder: What would happen if you put a copy of Calibre Portable on a virtual hard drive and then put the VHD onto the cloud storage?

I would like to move all the images to root of ABC_files folder and change their location in html document to new location.

the metadata editor in Sigil seems to ignore the identifier. If I remove the id="BookId" from the the metadata editor will recognise the identifier.
Is this an error? (I think it must be, since the id="whatever"-construction is legal according to the specs.)

One thing that bothers me is the left and right page margin is quite big, which means a considerable amount of precious space on iPhone's narrow screen is wasted.
I tried to change the css for the html body by something like this:

}
(.calibre1 is the html body)
And it does work in calibre's built-in reader, but it seems to have no effect when I open the epub in iBooks.

Recently got the below errors while trying to load a specific book. It opens in calibre's reader fine. I opened it in the editor and did some of the automatic repairs.
