Question about resetting a Kindle, and the metadata cache

Obviously resetting the Kindle will delete the metadata cache, but if I copy it before resetting it, then re-add it can it be saved that way? I don't want to have to go through the pain of rematching all my books to my libraries again. Amazon titles all have the series in them, and Calibre doesn't, so I have to match each one.

I was not displeased with the results at five yards. Five shots offhand went into a reasonably small cluster. Things were a lot more difficult at ten yards. The holes in the paper at first made me wonder if they might be keyholing at that distance, but the holes in the backer were circular.Extracting the spent steel cases of the TulAmmo required the assistance of a tool. I used the small flathead blade on the Leatherman Rebar I keep in my range bag, and the bottom chamber was noticeably stickie...

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS: Quiet Silent Night Edition

I’ve come a long way in the 25 some odd years I’ve been playing around with firearms. Christmas Reading...

We do it every year and I love this post....it's time for the 'What Will You Be Reading Over Christmas' post. It's almost as traditional as me decorating the bough in the kitchen wherein I have gone slightly off piste with the lights this year. They were half price in Tesco's and suddenly I decided twinkly light was what we needed. I've threaded them along the shelves... Another set swirls around the dresser... The fireplace and clome oven (just visible on the left) were begging for the s...

Causes for library updates to be slow

What would cause the "journal-db metadata" file to idk how to put it, but when I am trying to import a list sometimes when the list takes way too long to import and update this file shows up in the library folder and indicates each book being updated (i assume). I noticed that when I am doing a lot of mass updates (like importing lists) that unless I give it a break and let the metadata for the books catch up then the import list ends up being very slow, and that journal-db metadata file shows ...

SB Tactical SBPDW and SBM4 Braces IMG SB Tactical gallery U.S.A. – -(Ammoland.com)- “ATF recognizes that before issuance of this notice, there was a misunderstanding by some that a pistol assembled with any item purported to be a stabilizing brace still would be considered a ‘pistol’ regardless of other characteristics,” the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms admits in its “Objective Factors for Classifying Weapons with ‘Stabilizing Braces’” rulemaking proposal, posted and accepting comm...

Calibre GUI very slow while using calibredb

I have the GUI open with server enabled. I have a script running that is adding books and setting a few fields using calibredb. I find the GUI is so slow and unresponsive that it is unusable. I understand there is database locking going on while metadata is added But I would have expected the time to update a few tables is very short. Is Calibre locking the entire database while copying the books? Would using the DB API be faster? Also, when adding books the current search filter is ignored. ...

Metadata for edited volume

:help: Hello, Calibre version 5.7.2 I have searched forum and online for this but not found. Sorry if it's out there but searching "edited" and "editor" for Calibre brings up a lot of unrelated results. I am looking for tips on how best to add editors (to differentiate from authors) in the metadata of a book (epup or pdf). Is there a built in place for this (i.e. am I reinventing the wheel)? Any tips? I have done the following (see attached) but not sure if more is needed... ...

Changes in 5.7.2 - news title, menu

Hi all, I've upgraded from 4.x to 5.7.2 yesterday and there are two things that bother me in the generated news articles: - The first page of every article has "| Next | Section menu | Main menu | " on the top. This was there already before but my Kindle did not display it, whereas now it displays it with an ugly typewriter font. For a selected recipe I can suppress that with CSS .calibre_navbar {display : none;} but I'm using about 30 mostly self-written or self-modified recipes and it seem...

Bill Gates Picks 5 Good Books for a Lousy Year

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxlx8aZJ6mE 2020 has been a terrible year. Enlarge images in ebooks?

That type of images that appear small, can they be put in full screen on the kindle with caliber? As if it were a cover of a book. ...
