*MONZA* Color Matching-Counting-Preschool-Simple Strategy Game

My twins are 4 and LOVE LOVE LOVE to play games. Santa brought them something special this Christmas: a race-car themed, color matching, early strategy game called Monza.  Players choose one of the 6 colored wooden car playing pieces to race each other around the track. The cars line up on the starting line, and […]

Security Details...

BOLO for some stolen night vision... View this post on Instagram A post shared by Nick Chen (@solscud007) From a tangential discussion elsewhere: I parked a Porsche 924S and then a Fiero SE on the streets in the ATL for years. Left absolutely nothing of value in the car, took the faceplate off the stereo, and left the doors unlocked. I can remember at least three times off the top of my head (meaning there wer...

Copying a large library from previous one question

I've been trying to do this for a week now and I'm not getting anywhere. I know, there are instructions but I'm not sure they match my circumstances. So I was hoping someone here might know what I'm dealing with and a easier solution than I've found. I've been trying to copy my library from my old pc to a new one. My last one was the last version of caliber that ran on Windows Vista (yeah my pc was THAT old). Problem was, I couldn't use the PC in standard mode and could only use it in SAFE mode....

Making Sense of India’s Small Arms Procurement Nightmare

Indian small arms procurement is a complex business. Not only is the Indian Army extremely large, standing at around 1.2 million men, but it also has a complex procurement structure and an indigenous small arms manufacturing base that has failed to provide weapons that meet the Indian Army’s requirements. Combining the features from the tried […] Read More … The post Making Sense of India’s Small Arms Procurement Nightmare appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

It’s really nice to take a break during the holidays and still learn (of course!) but not worry about lessons or curriculum or deadlines. There’s enough going on during the holidays, who needs normal school?!?  Ecologies has a […]

Right Out of the Mold: California’s New Sen. Padilla Another Anti-Gunner

Alex Padilla fills the California vacancy created by Kamala Harris. (Screen snip, YouTube, Cal. Secretary of State) U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- As if to quickly dispel any confusion about how he will vote on Second Amendment issues now that he is replacing Kamala Harris in the U.S. Senate, Democrat Alex Padilla—appointed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom to fill the Harris vacancy—declared in his acceptance statement, “I’m going to the Senate so we can finally make real progress on our long-challe...

[Nook] Authors with Middle Names/Multiple Initials

Hi! Hoping someone can help me with the following issue (I've searched through the forums but haven't encountered this yet). Within Calibre, is there a setting I need to tweak in order for an author's full name to appear on my e-reader? For example, the author "Arthur Conan Doyle" (Author sort: "Doyle, Arthur Conan") simply appears as Arthur Doyle when I add any of his books to my e-reader (Nook in this case). Similarly, "J. K. Rowling" (Author sort: "Rowling, J. K.") appears as J. Rowling. T...

Running 2 instances in order to merge/combine two very different libraries?

I have started with a normal calibre instance on my PC for my ebooks. This is now version 5.3 on a Windows 10 Professional 64bit machine. I also started a calibre portable for my audiobooks. This is a portable version, 5.3 on an external disk. Of course I only add the data manually and the real audiofiles are in their own directory. I now think it would be better to enter audiobooks in the main calibre library. In order to enter data I already stored in the audiobook calibre I need to have it...

Barks & Bullets: The Story of S&W’s Bicycle Guns

Barks & Bullets: The Story of S&W's Bicycle Guns U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- The term “velocipede” may be foreign to most today, but it was familiar in 19th century Europe, where it was another way of referring to a bicycle. At the time, these unusual, human-propelled devices opened up a whole new world of possibility in terms of transportation. No longer did you need a horse (and all of the assorted expenses that come along with it) in order to travel faster than you could walk. This new mode o...

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Novelist Was Forced to Remove Hints at a Finn and Rey Romance

Was a romance between John Boyega‘s Finn and Daisy Ridley‘s Rey initially supposed to happen in the Star Wars sequel trilogy? Alan Dean Foster, who wrote the novelization of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, seems to think so, stating in a recent interview that he was forced to remove hints at a Finn and Rey romance from his book before it was published. Read his quotes below. Foster has had a long writing career, working on novelizations within several tentpole franchises ranging from Alien to S...

AZW3 -> PDF/A

Hello, I am new here. I bought a technical ebook. It is difficult to jump back and forth between pages/chapters on the slow Kindle. So I want to use the book for reading at home outside of the Kindle(Paperwhite), as I want to copy sample lines of code from lessons in the book and paste them into my own applications for testing. I have used Calibre to convert the AZW3 ebook to a PDF. However, I cannot copy/paste text. Is this due to the copy protection of the original? Can I convert the AZW3 file...

Inevitably, The ‘Ready Player Two’ Movie is Already in the Works

The inevitable has happened: A Ready Player Two movie is in the works. The sequel novel recently arrive nine years after Ernest Cline‘s original pop culture-obsessed sci-fi novel Ready Player One, but appears to be fast-tracked to the screen after Steven Spielberg‘s adaptation of the book became a box office hit in 2018. If nostalgia is currency in Hollywood, Cline’s Ready Player One series is filthy with it. Which is why a feature adaptation of Ready Player Two is already on its way, just a...

Titles don't match

I deleted some books from my Kindle because I found other additions that had more information. I try to send the new books to my Kindle using Calibre. However, the old titles remained. I tried restarting my Kindle. But it made no difference. I think the problem is that the old titles are not actually deleting from the Kindle memory, but I don’t know what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

How to transfer files from e-reader to computer without cable?

I have a Max 3 and I find the "Transfer books" app quite handy, but it only works FROM computer TO e-reader. I know I can use app to sync with Gdrive or dropbox but I'd rather transfer directly e-reader to PC. What's the easiest/quickest way to do this without using a cable? I have tried with bluetooth but I am not able to send files from the Max. I really don't understand why the Transfer books app does not allow two-way transfer, is the e-reader some sort of black hole? Any suggestion is ...
