Stacked + Geometric Shelf Designs

Hello and welcome to a new year! I took a few days off and it’s amazing what a few days of rest can do. I’ve got a few new fabrics I’ve designed that will soon be released, new art prints too. Tomorrow I’m looking at a few real estate listings for their renovation and flip potential, and I’ll be sharing an organizational DIY project I finished later this week. Good things are happening! January is that month we all seek to reorganize, declutter, and start fresh. Great looking storage always help...

Kual not working after update

I installed the factory jailbreak, kual and the hotfix, and then updated to 5.13.4. Since the update my KT4 it says "the selected application could not be started" when I try to open kual. How do I fix this? from what I read the jailbreak should still work because I installed the hotfix

Deleted books in Calibre?

For the first time in a very long time, possibly ever, I plugged my Kobo into Calibre and looked at the device before sideloading books. And there were nearly three thousand books in a category labeled as deleted. See the screenshot. What is this? Does anyone know? Attached Thumbnails

What I Read Last Week

Hello, all. Here is another of my periodic "what have I read lately" posts. I skipped a December roundup, but my thoughts on everything I read in 2020 are available on GoodReads, where I'm BethFishReads. One of Our Own by Jane Haddam (Minotaur: Nov. 2020; Dreamscape: 9 hr, 6 min). This is the end of a long series featuring an ex-FBI agent, his wife, and the members of his Philadelphia Armenian American neighborhood. Haddam finished this book just before she died. Note: because I was the copyed...

*CATAN HISTORIES: RISE OF THE INKAS* Civilization Building Strategy Board Game

We are long-time Catan fans.  Catan was actually the first strategy game I ever remember playing as a college student.  Before that, all I ever played were card games, and I loved the strategy and social nature of Catan!  We played it for years and enjoyed many of the expansions, and I was thrilled to […]

Undelete and/or confirmation of deletion of books

I find that I delete books easily and by mistake - I'll do a search, want to change it, press the delete button, and if I'm not in the search field, I'll instead delete books. As far as I can tell there's no "undo" command for deleting books - and in fact almost no indication that anything was deleted. As far as I know there isn't an option to confirm deletes either - at least I can't find it. Both of these features would be helpful. There may be some way to deactivate the delete key too, bu...

It will still be many months until the next Star Wars movie or TV show comes along, but tomorrow, a new era of Star Wars storytelling begins – for those who are willing to engage with it. Today, the compa...

Text-to-Speech (non local)

Please, does somebody know which are the minimal requirements to get Text-to-Speech working in languages outside the default? 1. I have installed already the voices for 3 additional languages, through the win10 configuration, and there appeared some more options to install: some apparently for speech recognition, or additional keyboards--not wanted. 2. The voices by themselves are not enough: when trying an English book in the viewer, the right voice was chosen (Hazel, I think), but the pronun...

Aura HD Archive.org PDF scans on Kobo

I have a couple of PDF books from Archive.org/Open Library. (The ePubs provided are often not so great.) They use some sort of layering/transparency for compression reasons, which I presume is the cause of various issues reading it on my e-Ink Kobo. Mostly it's just slowness in turning pages, which I can deal with. But then sometimes pages render badly (just the background layer, no visible text) or not at all. (Could it be running out of video memory? Does an e-Ink device even have video memory...
