Ladder Shelves + Living Wall

I assembled and secured two ladder bookshelves to the back wall of my studio this week. In 2020, I bought and read a lot of books and stacks of my favorites were piling up. I wanted a place to store them and I was eyeing the CB2 brand ladder shelves for a year because I liked the shallow depth but I wasn’t willing to spend $400 per shelf. A few weeks ago, I spied some ladder shelves for $160 each and that I was willing to spend. I chose them because I liked the dark wood with matte gold medley, ...

Kindle Keyboard Question

So I found my first Kindle I owned, a Kindle Keyboard! Battery was dead as a door nail and I replaced it. It is now working and registered back to my account and I see it in my devices on the Amazon website. However, it has only about 84 of the hundreds of books I have bought over the years. It seems to be books I owned back in the day when it was the kindle I used daily. Can I see all my books on the KK without having to actually download them? I wouldnt know how to download them even if I w...

North and South: Anti-gunners Targeting State Preemption Statutes

Lawmakers in at least three state capitals are considering laws to repeal state preemption statutes. U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- Anti-gun lawmakers in at least three states are pushing legislation to undo state firearms preemption statutes in an effort to return to the days when gun owners could easily fall victim to legal rat traps by crossing an invisible line between two jurisdictions with gun laws that might conflict with one another. Legislation has been introduced in Florida, Oregon, and W...

I see DeDRM v. 7.03 is available. I am still on Calibre 4.18, because I saw the warning. But now I am having trouble with ADE Epubs getting stuck at 1%. Is it safe to update?

Kindle / Mac - Error communicating with device

The first time I connected the Kindle, I believe there was a message in Calibre asking if I wanted to allow the connection to the Kindle. I accidentally clicked "No" on that message (or something similar). Now, when I connect the Kindle, I get the "Error communicating with device" message. Is there a way to reset this? I have tried resetting the Kindle to factory settings. Error details: calibre, version 5.9.0 ERROR: Error: Error communicating with device Failed to access files in the main...

Kon-tiki

I noticed the Kon-tiki 7.8" reader on the Onyx website the other day. A version 2 with Android 10 is coming in the next few days. I hadn't seen either version of this reader before and there isn't any commentary about it here, as far as I can see. I gather that it's like the Nova, but without tablet/stylus functionality. Anyone used one of these before with thoughts about it?

register other ebook entries with calibre

Hi there, I have many books in logos system (logos.com). It has its own proprietary format. It is hard to manage and catalog all the books I own. I am not seeking how to convert my books out. But I'd like find a way to catalog them with Calibre where I store all my "real" ebooks, so that I know I have this book and is stored in logos. Because logos books are NOT in individual files, how can I add entries in calibre for each book for this purpose?

Hi there one and all

:thanks: I'm a book addict, or rather reading addict.:bookworm: Without something to read my life is incomplete. I read varied non-fiction subjects, mostly technical stuff, DIY, informatics and nature based, like gardening, astronomy, travel to isolated regions. My fiction is more limited: science fiction and fantasy :D . Very rarely I read a book or two about voyages. I admit it's not a very open-minded selection of subjects, but that's me. Swab-Its Firearm Cleaning Kits – Review

SWAB-ITS has brought the gun-patch industry into the 21st Century. U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- I met Cathy Desorcy at SHOT I can’t remember how many years ago. I liked her sincerity and belief in her products right off the bat. At the time, SWAB-ITS was an outside company getting into the outdoor world. They made swabs for the medical field and high tech world. Of course, there were a few hunters in the company that saw how they could cross link over into the outdoor world and before you knew it...

What to look for when purchasing bare root trees and how to plant them

To many gardeners, January is shopping season. Every day, it seems, we find a new seed or plant catalog in our mailboxes (both snail and e-mail). These catalogs offer a wealth of information on all kinds of fruit and berry plants. When making your wish list, keep in mind your climate zone, available space, and personal energy level. Although you might want to try one of each variety, prepare to make some tough decisions. The good news is that this is the best time of year to buy and plant fruit ...

Street Machine?

The cool kid street photography cameras all seem to be super compact things with APS-C sensors (big for a pocket camera; the same as in DSLR's) and fixed wide-ish angle lenses in the 28-35mm range. This guy is using a Nikon Coolpix A, this dude used a Ricoh GR II, and this cat's a fan of Fuji's X100 series.Thing is, those are all pretty spendy entrance ramps into a type of photography I don't know if I'm any good at or not. A used Coolpix A is gonna be at least $400 and the Ricoh GR series or on...

Calibre Server: interesting newbie questions!

My mom uses Calibre on two laptops and has a Synology DS920+ NAS on her home network. I'd like to centralize her eBook storage on the NAS and streamline her experience using Calibre Server, if possible. Two benefits that stand out are that metadata manually fixed on one laptop would instantly be reflected on the second laptop - the other benefit is that the NAS has a RAID 5 array, so nothing would be lost if a single drive failed (unlike the laptops). I've followed these instructions but haven't...

‘The Hate U Give’ novelist Angie Thomas talks new ‘Concrete Rose’ and planned Harry Potter-inspired fantasy

Novelist Angie Thomas has built a huge readership with her two award-winning, best-selling young adult novels, 2017’s “The Hate U Give” and 2019’s “On The Come Up,” and she has a message for her largely young audience. “I want them to know they have value and a voice, and to use their voice. They have the ability to change the world, simply by changing the small world that’s right around them,” said Thomas, whose debut was made into a 2018 film and her follow-up is set to film later this year.
