Calibre won't pass cover page

The 64 bit Calibre Viewer in Windows 10 won't pass the cover page. None of the prescribed buttons work and no arrow for turning comes up on the page. By going to the TOC, I can go to the relevant Ch, but sometimes the only option that displays in the TOC is "Start". Pressing that does nothing. By going to "Edit book", I can see the information is there, it just can't be viewed. I have updated to 5.10.1, I have tried "repairing" Calibre, restarted PC, but the problem persists. Hello All! It's been 2 years since my last post, and my e-book and audiobook collections grew from 700 to 2500, and 10 to 800, respectively (I am thankful). Without the help of those on this forum, this would not be a joy in my life. My audiobook folder is created with a shortcut link to the destination of the folder. The engadget.com website has recently changed some styles. The old recipe did not work properly in the last days. Although I am not completely sure whether the changes at engadget.com are completely finished already, I updated the recipe so the articles are fetched properly again. I also included a function to remove articles based on keywords in the article text. This is used to remove sponsored articles and a daily summary article which mainly contains links to previous articles of the day....

Thinking seriously of buying a Pocketbook reader. What is the battery life like on this model, does anyone know? Also, I'm a "load my whole library" onto the reader sort of person (I know, I know), so how would the library list cope (I tried this on my old Kobo and the answer was "badly"). Is there a way to remove the gap between pages without merging?

I am trying to create a reflowable book in Sigil. Each page is its own separate html page in Sigil to allow for maximum speed while rendering the book in a ebook reader. I noticed that while displaying the book in Apple Books on iPhone or macOS, there is a gap between every page. All margins and padding are set to 0.
