February Monthly Spread

I decided to start decorating my monthly spreads for 2021 and I love what I did for February so much. When looking back on my filled 2020 planner, I regretted not decorating my monthly pages. It didn't take much time and this one was completely fun. I used stickers from The Encourager Sticker Book as well as the Rainbow Mega Pack sticker book, using the red colored stickers. I think it's a great way to add in a seasonal touch each month as I have a very neutral Teresa Collins Happy Planner. Al...

Short Barrel Soft Point Showdown: Hornady Black HD SBR Review

Hornady Black HD SBR: Ammo OPtimized for your shorty 5.56 SBR’s and PSB stabilized AR Pistols are handy for sure.  Their shorter OAL makes them a great candidate for a lightweight and compact defensive firearm, especially as a suppressor host.  Short barrels chambered in 5.56 have one major…shortcoming. The velocity and resultant lethality loss due […] Read More … The post Short Barrel Soft Point Showdown: Hornady Black HD SBR Review appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

Wheelgun Wednesday: A Look At The Tranter

What do Jeb Stuart and Sherlock Holmes have in common? They both favored the Tranter.  A popular double action revolver designed by William Tranter and Robert Adams (of the Beaumont-Adams) in 1853, the Tranter was used in both the American Civil War and the Anglo-Zulu war, as well as by various famous figures throughout world […] Read More … The post Wheelgun Wednesday: A Look At The Tranter appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

Reference recommendations? (Nature field guides)

Has anyone found some good ebook versions of field guides? I'd like to take a well-stocked Android tablet on my nature walks. Carrying around a hardcopy library is not to be done (my lower back would object) and I'm hoping for something better than just an awkward scan by some publisher of their paper version. Specific regions of interest: northeastern US through the western Great Lakes states. More specific regional guides within this general area would be welcome. - birds - insects a...

Hot upgrades: Jamstik Studio, Uno Synth Pro, Circuit Tracks

Looks like 2021 is starting with a ton of new announcements from NAMM and beyond. I've picked three new products to highlight here, all of which represent significant innovation in the musical instrument market.  Zivix JamStik Studio MIDI guitar Many readers are probably aware of Zivix original products the JamStik and JamStik+. These were innovative MIDI controllers that resembled guitars, but had only 7 frets. They were portable, lightweight and great for learning guitar, but not really...

Hi guys, I have updated KyBookSync to work with the latest version of Calibre. Also uploaded code to GitHub. I have asked carl1c about it in a private message, but he seems to have left the forum. Pull requests are welcome if you want to have a go at it yourself. If you run into a problem with this plugin, drop a comment here or, preferrably, ...

Philippe Nigro’s Shade Collection

Shade is a family of indoor/outdoor chairs and stools designed by Philippe Nigro and Et Al. for Sandler Seating. The collection is simple but not simplistic. Using the essential material of tubular steel, Nigro has created versatile seating that’s also an eclectic art piece, as the open steel structure manipulates light, casting intricate shadows in crisscrossing patterns that change with the height of the sun (or angle of the pendant). The phenomenon gives Shade its name and ...

Finally decided which was best

Well, Kindles, obviously. Because adding books purchased elsewhere is easy, and Amazon seamlessly syncs between kindle devices. Even the books emailed in. Borrowing books from the library is super easy, and Amazon is competitive for books you need to purchase. Any lighting fits my need, so no preference there. I am unconcerned about water damage, although it is good that some are resistant. All have enough storage for me. But which Kindle? I have 3, a Paperwhite, a Voyage, and an Oasis 2. One ea...

No more covers on Kindle (Voyage)

Hi guys, Calibre always worked great with my old Voyage but, since a few months I can't have anymore the book cover appearing on the device. Of course I added it in the metadata but on Kindle I only see title and author (standard kindle view). Is there any settings to change or finally Amazon won this war (ignoring covers for books not purchased on its store, I mean)? :( Thanks

NRA Bankruptcy Control is Getting Dicey for Entrenched Leadership

Opinion NRA Bankruptcy Control is Getting Dicey for Entrenched Leadership USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- Most readers probably know that the NRA filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy last month with the stated purpose of reorganizing the Association as a Texas corporation.
