Moon+Reader double GoogleDrive folders

Sync hasn't been working for me lately, it's been increasingly irritating. (I have a Pixel-2XL and a GalaxyTab.) I just figured out why! I have *2* GoogleDrive folders created by MoonReader. And it's not like it just switched from 1 to the other. There are books on varying recent days in each folder. (One folder only goes back to Dec26, the other much further back. But both come up to the last couple weeks.) For the *most* part a book's files are only in 1 folder or the other, though there ar...

A disconcerting look at past gardening resolutions

Here’s a post I wrote in April, 2006, with updates in italics. It’s safe to say that I put almost none of the resolutions I made here into practice. Helen Dillon has moved on, into a new home, where’s she’s created a new fabulous show garden. I’m still trying not to put tall things in front of short things.  The image above is from Dillon’s wonderful, Down To Earth (Timber, 2007) In this month’s Horticulture, Irish gardening celebrity Helen Dillon writes “The Great Unclutter,” which starts out ...

Action Wetjen, Albert Richard: Pearl Hunger (2021) V1, 3 March 2021

Albert Richard Wetjens (1900-1948) ran away to sea at 14, travelled widely, and turned to writing adventure stories in the early 1920s. He wrote for both the low-paying pulps (Action Stories, Adventure) and the high paying slicks (Colliers, Saturday Evening Post); he continued travelling, visiting Australia in the mid-1930s as a now celebrated author. This collection, prepared for Mobil Read Library by Terry Walker, includes stories from both pulps and slicks. With thanks to Matthias Kaether f...

Ukrainian “Horizon’s Lord” Anti-Materiel/Sniper Rifle and Its 12.7x114HL Cartridge

Over the past couple of months, the Ukrainian MAYAK arms plant has been quite active on their social media pages publishing information on a variety of new and prototype firearms. Last week we talked about their KalashNash rifle, an AK variant that has a barrel change feature. Today, we’ll take a look at another new firearm designed […] Read More … The post Ukrainian “Horizon’s Lord” Anti-Materiel/Sniper Rifle and Its 12.7x114HL Cartridge appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

Spellcheck dialog shows well-spelled words as misspelled

In code view, word underlining works fine by adding it to misspelled words only. However, the spell check dialog also shows well-written words. I do not know if I am configuring or using something wrong or if it is an problem with Sigil or my current epub. I had understood that adding the xml:lang="X" was enough for it to work properly. In the screenshot "informadas" is well-written. Is a test with only 2 words, but i'm working on a large book with a looooot of false positives, so the Spellchec...

"eTextbooks" on the Kindle and Calibre.

Hello everyone, does anyone in there understands how these "eTextbooks" work? I got one here and they're almost like "pdf files but better" on the kindle, you have some options like "fit to screen" and zooming is faster and more manageable, plus with fit to screen you can basically read everything in this textbook I have. Using calibre I figured out that the book is an azw3 file, which explains the better features a bit, and after removing drm you can convert it to a pdf file, and it then becom...

Literary Orange 2021 announces authors and books for virtual festival

The 15th Literary Orange festival of books will go virtual in April with keynote speakers that include 2020 National Book Award winner Charles Yu and best-selling thriller writer Harlan Coben. A year ago, Literary Orange was swept up in the first wave of cancellations in the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of the annual day of celebrating authors and their books, the event went dark in 2020. This year, the festival hosted by OC Public Libraries since 2007 will present five authors on the bill. The vi...

K4 Kindle 4 (Black) Constantly rebooting

Hi everyone, I have a black Kindle 4 that is constantly rebooting after ~5 mins on standby. I have tried the following: Unregistered. Kubricked. Purchased new battery from ebay and replaced (original battery). Charged for 24 hours straight. Kubricked again. So far nothing helped. Issue is it just reboots, everything else works perfectly fine. What can be the issue here? Faulty power controller? And is there any hope of getting it back online?

‘War Criminal’ Deported as U.S. ‘War on Guns’ Criminals Continue to Evade Justice

Justice, such as it is, has at long last caught up with Friedrich Karl Berger. Meanwhile, our own government officials who were issuing or “just following orders” that resulted in untold numbers of deaths are confident their roles will never be fully exposed. TFB Collab: H&K Mark 23 Special with 1911 Syndicate

Years back I purchased an HK Mark 23 out of pure nostalgia and love for the gun’s history.  Fast forward to today, and that Mark 23 is my favorite pistol to take to the range.  No, I’m not saying the pistol is practical by any means, but the gun is an absolute joy to shoot. Kindle keyboard screen gone weird after screen replacement

Hello, Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my kindle screen? I dropped my kindle, the screen cracked, so I ordered a replacement and installed it at the weekend. Since turning it on after the screen replacement I can only see my kindle menus in the top right of the screen. The bottom right is just grey and never changes and there is a bar on the left which was the display when I unboxed the replacement screen. Has anyone come across this before? Is the replacement screen the problem. I t...
