Come Grow Along with me

We don’t like promoting things here at Rant. We get lobbied by gardening-related PR and marketing all the time, and we mainly ignore it. Once in a while, though, something viable comes along. Something that looks kinda good. Something I actually want to tell our readers about, because I think they might benefit.   This time, that rare thing is the upcoming Great Grow Along garden festival, happening March 19–21. I think it could fill a need and I know it has some good speakers and topics. As yo...

Forma Charger - little warm, and maybe Forma...

So my new Forma, charging for first time. Using the same usb wall charger that worked on my Libra. Plugs in fine, Forma was in sleep mode when I plugged it in. No flickering, jut stayed asleep and the charge LED is on the unit, nice. I do notice the charger is a little warm and I think there is a slight warmth noticable on the Forma on the power port. Is this ok? It's just a straight usb wall charger, Samsumg, Input is .15A, output is 5V 1A Thank you jim

Set Page Count (pagination) in Epub, How to

Page count for my book is 104 pages on Amazon. Want it to be 100 pages to fit in a specific category. I asked KDP how to do this and they told me I to "change the pagination of your eBook, please resubmit your book using the desired page numbers in the eBook’s ePub file." I've been researching this a lot but still have no idea how to do this! PLEASE HELP! I will be forever grateful. Willing to pay someone to help if that's the case also. TIA

Custom Columns: Undefined values

Without making a composite column (I'd like to keep the column editable from the book list), is there any way to display "—" for an undefined value in a custom column? In this specific case it is integer but I may want to do this for other columns too. My second plan is to add a column icon.

*SHIP SHAPE* 3D Spatial Reasoning/Strategy Pirate Game

Has some part of you always wanted to be a smuggling pirate??  I have! The danger, the romance, the adventure…it seems intriguing! But dangerous…and dirty…and probably not really much fun at all. An imaginary plundering expedition is much better. Ship Shape is just that, a game where players get to be plundering pirates who are […]

Calibre Actions Toolbar disappeared

Hello everyone! After I modified the Settings in Calibre (font:6, interlines:-20), the Actions Toolbar disappeared. The problem is that I cannot access it anymore, nor access the Settings icon, to come back to the default settings. I tried to desinstall and re-install Calibre, but each time I have no Action Toolbar, even after re-installation. The settings seem to be saved somewhere on the computer. Does anyone has already encountered the same problem? Or do you know any keyboard shortcut t...

Do you think the N604 could be 10"?

I'm wondering if we're going to see a 10" reader? With colors maybe? If it's an 32gb reader, it sounds like it could be a comic/pdf reader. I'm crossing fingers as I'm waiting for the next Kobo ereader to upgrade from my Aura One.

Do Self-Help Books Help?

Self-help books — which aim to help individuals independently improve some or all aspects of their lives — have a long history. Search to find blank custom column

I have two custom date columns -- #Started and #Finished. I'm trying to figure out how to do a search that returns all those books that are started, but haven't been finished. The Started is easy -- #Started:>1/1/1900. Which is, I admit, a kludge because I couldn't figure out how to deal with blank, not-blank. Unfortunately, that kind of kludge won't work for the Finished. I looked through the Search help files, but nothing really seemed to fit. Which is making me feel like a bit of a doofus, ...

Do SVGs have to be wrapped in DIVs?

Most sample code shows SVG in ePub wrapped in DIVs, e.g. for a full page image: Code:                 A few questions:Is such a wrapper necessary? Is it necessary both for full page and for inline images? Is it necessary also if the SVG doesn't contain a pixel image but only vector code? Does the wrapper have to be styled in any way?
