Currently, I have these two search and replaces that I use in an Action Chain (including an example of what happens if you run it on the wrong URL type): Attachment 186072 Furthermore I also have another search and replace to remove the URL identifier. Currently my action chains does this: If publisher:"=Archive of Our Own" AND NOT #fanficstatus:"=Abandoned" then run "AO3 Identifiers." If publisher:"=Fanfiction.net" AND NOT #fanficstatus:"=Abandoned" then run "FFNet Identifiers." If #fan...

The Bugs Bunny & Friends hour on MeTV this morning had some primo vintage Warner Brothers stuff, which Bobbi and I enjoyed immensely. Among the highlights:  The Wabbit Who Came to Supper, an early 1942-vintage piece from the "Fat Elmer" periodHaredevil Hare, Marvin the Martian's debut from 1948, which introduced us all to the dangers of the Uranium PU-36 Explosive Space ModulatorBirdy and the Beast, also from 1948, which was Tweety's second cartoon short, back when he was still pink ...and fina...

The TeeWee weatherpeople have been talking about "meteorological spring" since the first of the month, but real actual spring begins today, with the vernal equinox. Today, the sun will be in the sky for exactly...well, a little more than half the day, actually.  It's complicated. What with Indy being about as far west as you can go in the Eastern Time Zone, the sun sets at around 8PM now, and sunset just gets later and later from here, to my delight and Bobbi's chagrin. . The Bees Are Dead, The Goldfish Are Not, and It’s Okay.

It’s the first day of spring and the bees are dead. After a long yesterday assessing the winter garden hangover – the deer-nibbled evergreens, the chicken-uprooted polygonatum, the muddy mess that will someday house new garden beds, but currently looks like the Somme in 1916 – this news hit me the hardest. Give me strength. I am not silly enough to mourn the death of insects that, after all, enjoyed longer lives than their summer sisters, but after a warm winter it felt like a massive failure ...

POTD: The Sturmgewehr 77 with the Austrian Jägerbattalion

Photo Of The Day – We visit the Austrian Jägerbattalion of the Bundesheer. These soldiers are on the next step of becoming squad leaders, in one of their rounds of cadre candidate training. Their main firearm is of course the Steyr AUG bullpup rifle or the StG 77 (Sturmgewehr 77) as it’s called in the Austrian […] Read More … The post POTD: The Sturmgewehr 77 with the Austrian Jägerbattalion appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

Centering SVG in Kindle Previewer

I'm trying to center a full page SVG in Kindle Previewer in landscape mode. When I have a JPEG in an IMG tag or a JPG in an SVG tag, I can center that image. Both the following images get centered: Code: Code:       But when I have an SVG image with paths it always sits at the left edge of the screen. The following image doesn't get centered: Code:   Is that because of poor SVG support in Kindle Previewer, or am I doing something wrong? I have tried...

Adobe Digital Editions: Automatically deleting books returned to library?

Sorry if this is the wrong section. :o I use Adobe Digital Editions 3.0. When I return a book borrowed from a library, the physical eBook file remains in the folder and has to be deleted. Is there an option I missed somewhere to automatically delete it when returning the book? :thanks:

PSA AK-104 Trigger Time and First Look at The Gathering

U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- The true Russian AK-104 is an interesting beast. It’s essentially just a slightly cut-down version of the polymer-stock, modernized AK-100 series carbines chambered in 7.62x39mm. Despite this, it has some mystique about it that makes it oddly desirable to shooters who love modern Russian firearms. Especially given how uncommon the gun – or civilian-legal variants of it – are in the United States. But that all is changing with Palmetto State Armory’s entry into the AK m...

Keeping Neoreader Font Size the Same

I have a Poke 3 and am wondering if there is a way to keep the font size the same on all epubs when using Neoreader. For instance, I have the Font Size set to 1 and the Typeface is Bookerly. On one epub this is perfect but when I open a different epub the font size is still 1 but the font size is smaller so I have to adjust it to 2. Is there is a way to keep constancy in the font size with all epubs that I have.

The Reformer [Free until April 15] [Historical Fiction]

What Nazi Germany did to the Jews did not happen overnight. Although the historians differ on the origin, some argue that the foundation for it was built by the writings and deeds of perhaps the most influential reformer of the millennium, Martin Luther. This screenplay is a journey through his life to give us historical facts as well as insights into his reformation. Whether or not the events of his lifetime could have influenced the Holocaust is left for the reader to decide. The monologues ar...

3 powerful children’s books about grief, to help them process an unimaginable 12 months.

You know we often turn to books when we want to help our children through their struggles and feelings, and this month feels like the right time to share some excellent children’s books on grief and loss. When I think back over the last twelve months of COVID-19, it’s difficult to spend too much time […]

Epub to KFX / AZW3 - Different line spacing, margins

Hi all, when I convert an Epub to KFX it seems like it has more line spacing compared to the same book as AZW3. The text starts also a bit further down in the KFX (bigger top margin?). As you can see on the screenshot, the KFX file has only 19 lines on the page and more free space at the bottom. Is it due to the different conversions? What can I do to have the KFX file look like the AZW3 (i.e. same line spacing, same line count on page, less space at the bottom)? Any help appreciated :) W...

Seeing the 700-year-old coast live oak and more at Orcutt Ranch Horticultural Center

Around 700 years ago, the Italian Renaissance began, the black plague claimed 25 million lives as it spread through Europe, and a coast live oak seedling sprouted from an acorn in a place known today as Canoga Park. That same seedling grew into a magnificent tree, estimated to be seven centuries old, that you can visit at Orcutt Ranch Horticultural Center. The center, part of what was once a 210-acre cattle ranch and citrus plantation, is located at 23600 Roscoe Boulevard. There are 24 acres mak...

Dean Koontz: ‘Life is one long suspense novel’

The author, 75, on escaping into books, becoming politicised as a teacher, and not knowing what will happen tomorrowMy first memory is of my mother having serious surgery. I would be about three or four at the time, and because my father was an alcoholic with many problems, including violence, I was sent to stay with a friend of my mother’s while she recovered. Our home was a chaotic house, but here things were totally different. Every night, when she put me to bed, she gave me a cherry ice-crea...

KFX/AZW, different line spacing and margins

Hi all, I recently gave the KFX format a try to get ragged right and hyphenation. After a while I realized that I often had a lot of space at the bottom of the page left with KFX books. I set orphans and widows to 1 during conversion and it was better, but still not the same as with my AZW books. The bottom margin seemed larger then the top one. When I compared two screenshots (KFX/AZW) I saw that the text in the KFX starts a bit lower, has more line spaceing and one line less on the page compar...

Two problems, fonts and page break.

Hi group. My needs are simple I think. I've written a short story using iBook Author and saved it as an ePub file. I can load it into Calibre but when I convert it to a Kindle file, 1) The page breaks often come in the wrong place. I think I've solved this by using . 2) Sometimes the fonts are wrong? What is the command in the HTML code that controls fonts? Phil
