I have seen the future of spring garden festivals and its name is The Great Grow Along

While there’s no replicating some elements of an in-person garden show—like the sight and scent of flowers—a powerful and ambitious alternative was presented last weekend: The Great Grow Along (GGA). This entirely virtual festival presented more than forty sessions divided among six track and featured forty-five speakers. Except for its lack of a physical presence, GGA’s programming was more ambitious than most gardening shows I’ve heard of. It included many speakers who, though well-known in t...

Catalog command-line syntax for prefix-rules

I'm trying to generate an epub catalog from the command-line. I have a custom boolean field "Read"; if it's set to True, I'd like to mark the book. When I do this from the GUI, it works fine; the combo box in the GUI shows the available values as "True", "False", and "Undefined". On the command line, there are two problems:--prefix-rules="('Read books','Read',True,'+')" fails with an error: Code: incorrect number of args for --prefix-rules: 'Read books' How do I specify a charact...

Pawn Shop Finds – The Space Age Beretta CX4 Storm

It has been a while since the last Pawn Shop Finds, but COVID either cleared out my local shops or they shut down in the wake of the pandemic. Luckily, my local shops have been picking up inventory from people who are mostly selling guns to pay the bills. I had a few different store […] Read More … The post Pawn Shop Finds – The Space Age Beretta CX4 Storm appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

Vertical Stack Bond in the Shower

I’m remodeling three bathrooms and a kitchen this month and next, just like the saying goes, when it rains it pours. I’m rounding up all the materials for these spaces and in all three, they require new tile in the showers. In at least one I’m installing tile in a modern stack bond pattern. There are two kinds: straight stack and horizontal offset stack, both elongate a space, and because it draws the eye up, this pattern fits just right inside a shower. Below are a dozen examples of this contem...

Trouble viewing a German-language text

Hi, I'm a newbie here, so not sure if this is the correct place to post this question. I recently discovered Calibre, and love its premise. I can view a series of English-language books in the viewer, but when I try a German-language book, the text is unintelligible. I have set the language (by editing meta-data) to 'German,' but this does not help. The text opens fine in the Kindle for PC app, but I want it in Calibre, if possible. Is there some simple setting that I am overlooking? Thanks fo...

Where are the library names stored?

I've written a Windows cmd file to verify / backup / sync my Calibre libraries. At this point, the script processes all the libraries within a single folder structure. Calibre knows about other ones (work folders mostly) that are elsewhere. I'd like to A) use what Calibre knows, and B) remove the old, work folders I don't actually use Calibre for. Where is Calibre getting / storing its list of Libraries? Thanks!

Poke Pro - Crashes regularly since December firmware update

Since installing the firmware update 2020-12-02_13-02_3.0_f8d676e my Poke Pro has crashed regularly while I am reading it. The touch screen and power button stop working. The only thing that will recover it is to connect a charger. This resets it to power off state, and it then restarts, having forgotten the page I was reading. After the restart the battery charge indication shows 5-15% power loss. Has anyone else seen this behaviour? And can anyone suggest a fix, please?

Biden & Capitol Hill Gun-Banners Rush to Exploit Boulder Bloodshed

Killers Name Redacted Colorado – -(AmmoLand.com)- While Colorado murder suspect AXXd Al AXXwi XXXXXX (no notoriety media protocol) was in a Boulder hospital being treated for a bloody leg wound, gun prohibitionists were already exploiting the massacre of his ten victims—dancing in blood, as many have suggested—to push an agenda of gun control. Apparently focusing more on blaming the Second Amendment rather than an alleged killer whose motive is apparently still not clear. But nothing has sto...

Polis Modular Marble by Lithos Design

There’s something timeless about Polis Modular Marble, a new architectural wall covering by Lithos Design. Indeed, its deeply etched texture resembles pictographs or arcane symbols, secretive founts of wisdom to be deciphered through tactile exploration. Or, as Lithos puts it, “fascinating ancestral carvings with a compelling decorative rhythm.” Above all, Polis is invested in exploring the potential of the material, achieving a faceted pattern on the surface that provides endl...
